New Cyprus Shirts

Postby Nick T » Mon Oct 23, 2006 1:20 am

This is scandalous! We must have access to these new shirts, just like all true supporters. We want to show our colours & wear the shirt with pride.

Hopefully the new away shirt, depicting the national flag, will be available very soon. I am amazed that there is no mention of their association as kit suppliers to the Cypriot team on the Diadora website. Surely an oversight after the beating of Eire.

Anyway, I am awaiting a response from Diadora & as soon as this is forthcoming I shall post their response.

In the meantime, if anyone finds out, please advise.

Oh! the person who posted a link to ebay with, supposedly, the Cyprus shirt is wrong. This is an older iteration & also snide. Beware bad imitations. We want the genuine article phile!

yes i agree totally! i have tried contacting Diadora, for they used to have the cyprus team in their "Teams" section...but instead of the greek players it had TURKISH players..... (And it was for sure the GC team, it had all our history, best wins, losses etc...and it had the ΚΟΠ (cfa) logo).
since i contacted them they removed the team completly! i also tried www.sportarena.gr but all they have is an Omonoia cap and Berret...no other cyprus teams or anything!

Efharisto phile! I am on the case & will correspond with CFA on this matter.

At the very least this seems to be a commercial matter that they should exploit.
Not every Greek Cypriot wants or desires the Greek shirt as either default or Hobson's choice! We are entitled to wear our colours. After all would a Scotsman be happy wearing an Irish or, heaven forbid, an English shirt?

Kypros!

Mission accomplished!!!!

I am today proudly in possession of the new Diadora Cyprus Away shirt.
It must be said that it is better than I had envisaged. It is in the colours of the flag and looks fantastic!

It was purchased in Nicosia by my sister-in-law while on holiday during Half Term.

I do not have any specific details about the shop as I haven't had a chance to quiz her about details. She asked in various sport shops around Ledra Street but it was only available in one. I will advise details once I have them.

It is worthwhile noting that it is a slim fit shirt as is the modern trend with some manufacturers so buy/order 1 size up.

The shirt itself looks great & will not disappoint. The White away version is a must. It is distinctive with the broad shoulder stripe.

Another point that may be salient is that a label on the outer body of the shirt advises it is "Limited Edition" with a number alongside.

To date I have not had a response from Diadora UK, whom I phoned yesterday, regarding information as to which retailer can supply these in the UK.

Anyway, I will post again with more info when I have this.
In the meantime feel free to contact if I can help further.

Keep the faith.
