Spending Money

Postby fraz1776 » Wed Oct 18, 2006 9:01 pm

Hi im going to akrotiri with work in nov for 2 weeks and im just wondering if £350 sterling will be enough? obviously i will be working through the day so i wont be going mental on the drink but ill probably be going out every other night or something.

I ask because I've been told it can be quite expensive for drinks!
whats the average price for a vodka and coke or something like that?

oh also what will the weather be like then and will the sea still be warm enough for a swim?

Cheers
Ross

If it's £350 a month ---- er - No ------------ although a lot of european workers are paid and survive on that

If it's £350 a week -- which is £1400 a month ---- you will have absolutley no problems.

If your a big strong lad from bonny Scotland you won't find the sea any colder than it would be at home in July

Price for drinks ---- hmmm --- depends where you are --- some of the night clubs are expensive -- some of the bars are cheap ---- roughly on a par with the UK I would say

Ross, you will be fine. If your RAF you'll be staying in a block on camp and the local bars on camp are quite reasonable. There isn't much directly off camp so if nightlife is what you're after, you will need to taxi to and from. But eating on camp (provided) then social nights (believe there are quiz nights etc you can join) 350 sterling which is 301 ish CYP should be enough for 2 weeks.
Don't worry mate, you'll be fine!
Have fun!

300 pounds for 2 weeks for just one person is more than enough. Other people can maintain families with that money!

i found cyprus very very expensive!!! feel sorry for you guys living there........but for a holiday, if that is for food/drinks only and no splurges on shopping etc it should be fine
we spent over A$6000 (approx 2000pnds) in 6 wks.....

Yes but he will not be paying for food or accomodation, he's staying on RAF Acrotiri where his food and board are paid for by the forces.. Like Sotos said, and like I said before, 3oo CYP is MORE than enough to have here for 2 weeks.
Enjoy!

For many years service personnel have been charged for food and accomodation (albeit at a subsidised rate) but this will come out of his salary, so he will have more than enough spending money. After all, he's coming over on a tour of duty, not a holiday.
