Çay, Abdulhaluk. Kıbrıs’ta Kanlı Noel, 1963. Ankara: Türk Kültürünü Arastırma  Enstitüsü, 1989. pages 109-114

Number of dead TC during the "genocide" years
79 TC in 1963, and 136 TC in 1964!

Of course Patric the favourite source of Erol must know better than the T/Cs themsewlves.

By the way your figure does not seem correct if we take into account the following 3 undisputed facts. a) The number of voters during the referendum was 142,000. b)The settlers are more than the indigenious TCs c)Number of voters does not include dependents below their 18th year of age.

How and when did b become an undisputed fact? Did I miss some new survey carried out?

Brother Mic, Abdulhaluk Çay suggests that total number of TC loss was 364 between the years 1963-64. Though the same website lists only about 200 of the names of the TC losses.

Perhaps, apart from that 200 TCs others were Turkish soldiers. I really have no idea but I'm going to make a deep research about it.

The GCs uktra natioanalist politicians fabricate numbers, and start feeding them to the society. And after some time society and even the politicians start believing their own lies.

In this forum this subject has been discussed, with some sort of mathematical approach, and all the results gave us the number of settler being somewhere between 60-80k.

But it is very hard to convince other party because they do not like to believe that they have been fabricating figures in the last 20 years or so. If you ask them the actual number of TCs living in north is somewhere around 60k anyway. This means TC society has actually shrink 60k in the last 30 years, and actually we will be extinct soon anyway.

Anyway I realize there is no reason to discuss this issue further with nationalists because at the end they will believe whatever they want to believe. So I have stopped.

The question you should be asking is why doesn't the north conduct a proper censous of the population living in the north? The reason why there is such a debate on the number of settlers is precicely because the north has avoided conducting such surveys and because the setters are being used as a political pawn.

In the south the public records will tell you who the citizens are and their origins.

MicAtCyp,

the figure of 63,000 is Number of citizenships granted ... so it wouldn't include any children who were born after the citizenship was granted (but presumably it would include children born before the citizenship was granted).

As far as I am aware, these figures are current (ie they go up to the latest "citizenships" ...)
