Best Beaches

Postby Sunshine01 » Thu Feb 01, 2007 12:22 am

What beaches in the Protaras /Ayia Napa area do people recommend? We will have a two year old toddler with us, so we are looking for a safe shetered beach, preferably with soft white sand and turquoise blue sea and sunloungers. Thank you. :)

turquoise blue sea mixed with excrements, plastic bags, empty cans and bottles... disgusting, i will never ever go to Ayia Napa again. Protaras is a bit cleaner tho...

Last summer we found the Macronisos beach at the western end of Ayia Napa was clean. Loungers/Umbrellas - yes. Sea was shallow. It was certainly popular but then again I suppose they all are.

Thanks for your replies.............we're going in May so hopefully wont be too crowded. What does anyone think of Fig Tree Bay or Nissi Beach?
I've never been to Cyprus before so I really welcome your views and comments. 8)

All the beaches around the area you are proposing to visit are quite nice for children, the water is quite shallow and very popular, I am sure you will have an enjoyable holiday here despite the sad reputation Ayia Nappa has as a result of some night-time rowdiness, the hotels are quite acceptable and I do hope you do not encounter any of the negative aspects of the location, you have the advantage of there being several choices,.
Best wishes and good luck on your vacation. :) :) :) :) :)

Yes I would agree with Eliko and would add that all the beaches you will encounter fall within the EU "Blue Flag" directive for beaches, but do watch out for the kid(s) around the swimming pools in the hotels - often deep water.

8) Head up the coast towards paralimni- look out for knossos castle on the right hand side and turn right there or go on a bit further..all the beaches there are nice and family orientated, some even have changing rooms and toilets as well as sun beds...and shallow water for kids too.

Lanta Beach used to be really nice, very quiet it is down a small road between Nissi and Macronisoss on the back road that goes to Waterworld.

Beaches near Ayia Napa and Protaras

Postby Cypriotatheart » Sat Feb 03, 2007 3:53 am

I like the small cove and beach beside the Mimosa Hotel in Protaras. You can use the bar of the hotel but down on the sands there are sun beds to rent. As it is a cove there is shelter and the water is usually very warm.

I think all beaches in Ayia Napa and Protaras suits your requirements. You can check here and choose http://www.cyprus-beach.net . I been there last week all of them clean and nice. About how clean are beaches - all those beaches have European Blue Flag (guarantee clean beach and water)
