Was that V8 not called a Sunbeam Tiger? I seem to recall a tale about an american V8 engine being shoe-horned into an Alpine for the US Market and they called it a Tiger. Could be wrong of course, twas a long time ago

Initially the Sunbeam Tiger was fitted with a 260ci, the subsequent rare MarkII was fitted with a 289ci motor. A sort of soft AC Cobra.

Dead right Dadlushe and Lana, it was a tiger! the tail fins by this time had disappeared in favour of a rounded light cluster and along the side ran a chrome strip incorporating the word tiger. usual upgrades to suspension and brakes... at that time cortina gt's and lotus cortina's were the car that used to be the DB's but i left a lotus cortina standing from the lights as the tiger at that time hadnt been officially launched so he thought he was up against a standard alpine....they were quite fun to drive!!!!

Mine was an Escort mk6, jasmine yellow. Rustic, but indestructible, and fun to drive, easy and good mechanics.
Miss him, i don't know if it's still in Cyprus right now.

Ford 100e. No heater. Had to wipe the inside windscreen with a flannel to get rid of condensation in winter, so you could see out.

Wipers were vacuum driven from the inlet manifold. The more you pressed the accelerator the slower they went. Overtaking in rain was death defying. You had to take your foot off the pedal to get a glimpse of what might be coming the other way.
