8) When i get over to cyprus i was just wondering how easy it is to get to other places?? for instance crete, rhodes, greece and even maybe italy.
Are there regular flights or maybe ferries or hyrdrofoils (as on rhodes).
Has anyone made these trips and how long was the journey? your assistance would be a great help.

Hi there are you moving to Cyprus or just a holiday?

If your looking to holiday in Rhodes, goto Rhodes. If you want to holiday in Italy, goto Italy.

Why come to Cyprus and want to go somewhere else. There is enough to do and see in Cyprus!

If your moving, I dont know sorry. Maybe try going to Cyprus Airways website

There are cruises to Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Israel and Greek Islands, but no ferries. With airplane you can go anywhere you want but it is not very cheap even if it is very near because there are no budget airlines doing those routes.

8) thanks sotos, i tried looking at airlines but to get to rhodes i must go to Athens first it seems...
Simonwjones : i will be moving to Cyprus but i have some good memories of Rhodes and would like to visit again, i will have friends moving to Crete soon, and i have never visited Pomeii in Italy either, and my wife says its fantastic - As im going to be living in the Med it would be ideal for me to do these things.
i have nothing against Cyprus at all...thats why im moving there. :)

Part of the joy of being in Cyprus is that it presents a whole new array of holiday locations different to those you have close in the UK, where I assume you live. From Cyprus I have been to: Greece, Turkey, Israel, Eypt, India, Sri Lanca, Singapore and Dubai (often!).

We visit Malta from Larnaca airport using Emirates. The flight starts off in Dubai and touches down in Larnaca, then goes directly to Malta. So effectively, you could go to Malta and then go to Dubai via Larnaca on the return journey!

We also have a holiday planned to Egypt in May.

It's also possible to visit all of the Middle East from Cyprus by plane and usually Louis Lines have a foot passenger ferry in the main holiday season to Crete, Rhodes and Athens. From there, you can also take a ferry to Italy or fly to most of the Med from Athens.

Check out the Expedia UK website and just input where you want to go to and see what options come up, then you can start to plan routes using the Multiple Trip facility.

BOF Italy is not closer to Cyprus than the UK. I would guess that it is cheaper to fly to Italy from the UK than it is from Cyprus. CatSitter, does Expedia give everything? When I tried it some years ago I found out that the local agents had more and cheaper flights from Cyprus than Expedia or other websites.

I have found most of the flight information by using Expedia without much difficulty. It does help if you have an idea of the general direction you want to travel in, of course - a bit of geography helps!

Put it this way, I've booked flights from Larnaca to Cairo then onwards to Aswan with Egyptair and a return from Cairo to Larnaca at a cost of Gbp£201pp using Expedia UK site. Try finding that through a local agent without the "service" fees they are adding to the cost now as scheduled flight companies are no longer offering commission payments.
