Surprising Support by Putin About Cyprus

A surprising support came to Turkey from Russian leader Vladimir Putin about Cyprus. Putin who called UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, said that they will support a settlement in Cyprus and the isolation of TRNC was not fair.

Putin and Erdogan answered questions of the press in President Hotel. Putin said that "We support the plan of UN Secretary General Annan about Cyprus. We talked with Putin a while ago. We are supporting his plan about Cyprus. This includes continuing economic relations and removing the isolation."

Putin said that Cyprus was a sensitive issue and therefore must be treated carefully.

Wow, this guy is really serious about creating a turkish-russian union, isn't he?

Do two poor nations equate to one richer one though?

Powerful springs to mind, with a view to control the middle east and be a viable opponent to the E.U and U.S.

So i ask would you rather have an E.U with Turkey or a Turkey-russia partnership?

Ahaa! There was no need for him to suggest this, then. Or are there some who claims embargos should be sustained after the comprehensive solution achieved to Cyprus problem?

Putin's statements on Cyprus noted, says Cyprus Spokesman

Nicosia, Jan 11 (CNA)-- The Cypriot government noted today's statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Cyprus, Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides said here Tuesday in a written statement.

Chysostomides' statement came in the wake of comments by Putin at a meeting with Turkish businessmen, during Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan's official visit to Moscow.

Putin had said that he supports the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan's plan for a comprehensive settlement to the Cyprus problem and noted that the termination of the so-called ''isolation'' of the Turkish Cypriot community is tied to the settlement of the problem.

The age old saying springs to mind "money talks and bullshit walks", in short russia making so much money and business with turkey it suits them to side with the turks but diplomatically keep the gc close for peace of mind and to put pressure on when needed to suit the bigger picture.
