Only visited the North once - it does have a true feel of old Cyprus to it and is far less commercialised. Kyrenia harbour is breathtaking as is Bellapais , and I was very happy to visit the Tree of Idleness as mentioned in Durrell's Bitter lemons of Cyprus" (although I have heard its not the actual tree!)and we'd have loved to spend more time there.

We were a bit wary of offending our Greek Cypriot hosts as we have heard they don't like tourists going over - but everyone we spoke to said "Yes - go - the TC's are good people and you'll be welcomed" - asked if they minded us going - they sad no, just hurry back!!

We fully intend to visit more often when the island is united again an there is no need for visas and passports to cross over.

regards,

Richie

Well yes - holidays in a beautiful place made without the political baggage.

This is really what most people from the UK would be interested in. Not many actually know anything about the fact Cyprus was a British Colony or about the 'Cyprus Problem' although some forum members would have it that they are all angry about losing Cyprus many years ago.

Just normal people who want to make the most of their once a year summer holiday.

GAVCARoCOM some members believe that when Cyprus became independent from British rule the people of the UK have been angry about losing Cyprus. Just not true.

Of course Cyprus and Cypriots should be proud to be Cyprus and Cypriots, nothing else is needed.

Why however did you raise the subject of this editorial?

Malcolm Tattersall is a criminal like everybody else that enters ILLIGALY in Cyprus by using that airport. Thats the only comment. And Gav, stop advertising the occupied areas and what you stole from us.
