Couple of questions...

Postby sal » Fri Mar 09, 2007 3:13 am

Long time no see :-) Am contemplating my next Cyprus trip. The sooner the better.

So, what's the weather like right now - and what's it expected to get like in a couple of weeks - say beginning of April? Will it be shorts and tee weather and hitting the beach (bearing in mind I am English and tend to strip to the bare minimum at the hint of a sunny day in the UK as is obligatory for the English - and I don't want to fry - good time or too early?)

Also, any suggestions for low fare airlines flying from Manchester. Don't want a package deal as want to travel around a bit :-) see a bit of the island. I've done Ayia Napa/Nissi area and want some cultural Kypros now...

And lastly, any suggested itenaries? Would prefer to fly to Larnaca - was thinking of seeing Lefkara, a village called Tochni on the Cypriot agrotourism website and...well, I'm open to suggestion!

Thanks so much as always for your informed responses.

The temp. now is around 20 high and about 10 low. The last several days it has been sunny. I can't say for sure but chances are that by April the temps will be a bit higher and still sunny :) So I guess you can go to swim if you want ;) About places, have you been to Akamas and the Polis areas on the west? How about Agros, Platres and Kakopetria on Troodos?

Thanks Sotos. :D
Nope have never been to any of those places. You recommend? What's the pull with these places then? What should I see there?

I just really want to see the real Cyprus (and have the odd day on a beach) and put my Greek lessons into practise!

Your help is much appreciated! Thanks so much!

If you haven't been to those places and you like nice nature then you should definitely go! For Akamas you will need a Jeep since there are no paved roads but it is worth it. To Troodos you can go very easily and it is a must. If you just know the coast of Cyprus and not the mountain then you don't know Cyprus ;)

Paphos

Hello Sal

Have you tried www.wunderground.com for historical weather records.

You will find April to be very pleasant, we hope so as just over a week away from our return to Paphos.

On this visit, we intend to revisit the Tombs of the Kings and Paphos Mosaics in temepratures more bearable than last July.

We will also be taking a 4x4 up the coast to the Akamas Pennisular which is a fantastic nature reserve and head up to the Mountains - weather permitting.

We also will be visiting the Kouiron in Limasoll.

As for flights from Manchester, we in the past have used BA.com and found if you are flexible with dates & times a bargin can be found.

For further information about the Paphos Region in general please browse our website www.liakada.co.uk

Good Luck with your trip.

Thank you! I've checked your website - your home is lovely! If I ever plan a trip for a week to Paphos I'l be in touch! :)
Thanks for all the tips - your advice and suggestions are very welcome!
I go on the 18th - can't come quick enough for me. Have hired a car and want to see as much as physically possible (with maybe one cop out sneaky day on the beach for good measure!)
