Get Real! wrote:Fanos, I don’t accuse you of anything but just as with an “artists’ impression” I will attempt to re-enact the alleged scene for purely technical reasons and remind all readers that the characters “Fanos“ and “Babe” used below are purely fictional! :)

[Fanos with his babe baking at a beach in Paphos]

Babe: Darling are you sure you’ve got the whole month off? Your phone’s been ringing every two minutes!

Fanos: Relax baby it’s all under control the boss likes me so much he told me to go take it easy…

Babe: Alright…

Fanos: Oh, I just remembered sweetheart, I’ve gotta do a little work today… won’t be long!

[Fanos pulls out a Laptop from its bag lying next to the beach umbrella and pops in a mic in the jack and rests it on his pot-belly]

Fanos: Grrrr…come on Windows!!!

Babe: What are you doing?

Fanos: It’s all under control baby… Relax!!!

[Windows finally loads and he starts speaking in the mic…]

Fanos: [Foo-foo] I’m driving through one of [foo-foo] the most dang… [Boom] [Tat-Tat-Tat] …oh my God… [Boom] ...words cannot describe this place…[Tat-Tat] …quick everyone duck…[Boom]… this is your foreign correspondent Fanos Droushiotis reporting to you from…[Boom]… oh my word!… a lovely beach in Paphos... errr.. I mean Bagdad!

[Click]

Fanos: Beauty! and now “save” and all done!

Babe: Huh?

Folks for all of you that are upset, my issue with Fanos is his lack of professionalism, not that he works for BRT or even that he dislikes Pappy.

He recently posted a story from the Cyprus Mail about Lillikas and the oil exploration, deducing that Lilliaks had lied from the facts in the story. From my reading of it I drew the same conclusion but nowhere does the author call Lillikas a liar outright maybe because it is not his job to do that.

Compare to Fanos story about Papadopoulos.

Papadopoullos is not concerned...
By Fanos Droushiotis
Greek Cypriot Leader Tassos Papadopoulos dismissed reports that there was anything about Turkey’s reaction to the Cyprus offshore plans that caused concern to the government of Greece.
Lyıng to reporters after his return to the island from talks in Athens, Papadopoulos noted that only 10-15 minutes had been used to brief the Greek government on the offshore issue during the 2-hour long discussions.

Was Fanos there so that he can prove his allegation that Pappy spent only 10-15 minutes discussing it? If he can't, it makes him a liar to call someone else a liar in a newspaper without any proof even if he deduced the situation correctly, and he most likely did. It's called slander and Tassos told me to remind you that he owns a rather large law firm ;)

And about the Iraq thing. It wasn't an accusation. I was fishing. I wasn't 100 per cent sure it was you but I'm glad it worked out for you and you were cleared. You seem like a personable enough fellow in a lot of ways but as I said you need to polish up your professional skills especially in a senstive place like Cyprus where careless reports can inflame and cause misunderstandings. Why not just let the facts speak for themselves and assume your audience is smart enough to figure things out for themselves.

Karma
How do you know Damsi is not my real name? Is karma your real name? If it is, nice :)
I wasn't insulting Fanos by the way. I was taking him to task :) Anyway he runs rampant around this board insulting everyone and everything south of the Green Line.
I'm sorry that he perceives he has had a rough time from all the Greek Cypriot media, having apparently worked for so many of them but sometimes when you piss off a lot of people the problem may lie with you and not with them.

Thanks for the advise ! Why doesnt Papadopoullos and his right hand take me to court? I have accused him for murdering Giorkatzis, for money laundering Slobodan Milosevits's money, for being bribed by the Lebanese government, for delaying the Cyprus Proble Solution because his property will devaluate, for so many things...He has a large law firm of course check it out: www.papadopoullos.com
BUT he uses his firm to do International Business with a Greek crook based in Zurich, Usteristrasse 44 Mr Panagiotis Papadakis AND he used his firm to money launder Slobotan and the Russian Mafia AND AND AND its endless!!! Why should he bother with an unknown journalist like me? He has his own people to do that: Sotos, Pyrpolizer, Pitsillos and the rest Greek Nationalists who never accept the fact that 20% of the Cypriots are Turkish and that the Turkish troops will NEVER leave the island if they face idiots like the above mentioned fascists!

Fanos , indeed the accusations that you have made in public about the President of the RoC , are extremely serious and I would think that the recipient of such allegations ought to seek distress in court if such accusations are unfounded . The fundamental issue is however , would you defend your allegations in a court of law , a recognised court , and would you feel safe in doing so .

Yeah I forgot you said all that stuff as well :) We all know about the moneylaundering allegations. And do you really know Lillikas bribed the Lebanese government or is it an assumption based on the fact the government approved 100,000 for Lebanon just before Lillikas went to a conference in Paris that was raising money for Lebanon internationally.

Really isn't 100,000, and I think it was dollars, not pounds...isn't it peanuts to bribe another government with 50,000 pounds when there is a deal worth billions in the pipeline (excuse the pun). Also if it was underhand why publicise it. The cabinet openly approved the money for lebanon and announced it. Surely if it was clandestine they would have found another way.
Not only is the amount insulting as a bribe, it's downright stingy as a humanitarian donation :)

Fanos. All I'm saying is you are entitled to your opinion and you are allowed to dislike Tassos but you can't print all this stuff in the media without proof. You can say it here or to your friends but supposing it turned out to be wrong when all the facts are placed in front of you?
I'm not saying the RoC government is perfect but it might not be as evil as you make it out to be either.

Try printing some unsubstantiated articles or assumptions about Rauf Denktash or the Turkish army and see how long more you will have a job at BRT. Ask your colleagues at Afrika who merely criticised them. Here read this:

A Turkish Cypriot website
"Between August and October 2002, the editor and a reporter of the daily paper Afrika (formerly Avrupa) were jailed in Nicosia for criticising Turkish-Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash in a 1999 article.

Memduh Ener (columnist) and Sener Levent (editor) of the daily paper Afrika, were jailed for six months by a Nicosia court on 2 August 2002 for "possibly upsetting the president in his conduct of his duties."

More than 100 complaints were filed by the Turkish-Cypriot authorities against Afrika and its journalists for "insulting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" or for allegedly `inciting people to break the law, insulting the army, and trying to spread hatred towards the army among Turkish Cypriots`. "

http://www.bianet.org/2003/07/08_eng/news18514.htm

Seriously...going to jail for "possibly" upsetting the president :)...and you want to accuse Tassos of murder. Still if you produce the proof and the facts I will be your biggest fan :)
