PM Erdoğan calls on Kurds to say ‘enough’ to PKK fascism

18 November 2011, Friday / TODAY’S ZAMAN, İSTANBUL

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has accused the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) of trying to establish a “fascist system” and called on the country's Kurds to stand against the PKK's fascist pressure.

“I ask my brothers in this region to see this fascist pressure of the PKK and its extensions. In fact they do. Parents who lose their sons [in fight with the PKK], artists, businessmen and civil society organizations are raising their voices courageously and are saying enough is enough,” Erdoğan said in the eastern province of Bitlis during an inauguration ceremony for newly opened departments at Bitlis Eren University.

“I am frequently saying this. Democracy is the antidote for terror. As democratic standards are increased in the country, investments [in the region] increase and the mistakes of the past are compensated for, my brothers in this region are also seeing the truths and standing against terror.

I hope the terrorist organization will not find a single issue to abuse. This process will continue. You will see, the PKK and its extensions will soon show their true colors and the people of this region will get rid of this terror problem,” he said.

By the extensions of the PKK, the prime minister refers to the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy (BDP) whom he accuses of failing to distance itself from the PKK. PKK members, who are fighting for autonomy in Turkey from their bases in northern Iraq, have escalated attacks in recent months, killing dozens of members of the security forces and many civilians since July.

In a separate speech during a party meeting on Friday in Bitlis, Erdoğan once again lashed out at critics of recent police operations against the Kurdish Communities Union (KCK), who he said are trying to portray the KCK as a civil society organization. He said none of those arrested as part of the KCK operations were arrested without concrete evidence.

“How can an organization who seeks a parallel state be innocent?” he asked. Prosecutors say the KCK is a political umbrella organization that includes the PKK. KCK suspects are accused of various crimes, including membership in a terrorist organization, aiding and abetting a terrorist organization and attempting to destroy the country’s unity and integrity. The detainees include mayors and municipal officials from the BDP, which has said the investigation is the government’s method of suppressing its politicians, denying any links between the suspects and any terrorist organizations.

Well some would say that there is every justification, given the appalling treatment of the good people of northern Kurdistan by the Turkish State, for a BBF solution to the Turkish Problem in northern Kurdistan, one in which the Kurdish people are treated as an equal community, with an equal share in governance.

A New Federal Republic of Turkey and northern Kurdistan with Two New Founding Constituents States, Turkey and northern Kurdistan.

One in which the Kurdish Constituent State is further justified in being based on land and properties that have been in Kurdish hands for centuries.

Ella reh A. Gobiaseh.

Well there are prob some very nice and honest Turks around, but deffo agree there's far too much brain-washed and aggressive Nationalism in Tr and that the Turkish State and the Barmy T Army are very, very dodgy.

Even more frustrating is the difference that Cyprus, having been an undivided state, has been forcibly 'divided' by Turkey. Whereas, Turkey is a forced-together conglomerate already encompassing the territory of other nations. The easiest course and most natural path is for Turkey to split (at least 5 nations' worth of territories?) and Cyprus to be unoccupied and united.

Turkey is going against nature.

Perhaps they would have reminded Erdogan of another parallel state he fully supports had there been a Democracy in Turkey, where these pussy-whipped so called journalist without integrity didn't get jailed for not supporting the government's position all the time. That's the other hypocrisy of Erdogan, when he talks about DEMOCRACY in general. Since when did Turkey became a DEMOCRACY?

More hypocricy from Erdogan.

Turkey has now pissed off Iraq.

Has Turkey got any friends left in the region?

I had warned you all few months ago, that the moment the USA withdrew from Iraq, there was going to be civil war in Iraq, that has already started, which the country would then break up into 3 parts that would give birth to Kurdistan in northern Iraq. Erdogan is now losing sleep of this becoming a reality, because this would then cause the Kurds in Turkey to join in with the Kurds in Iraq to create a greater Kurdistan into Turkey and even into Iran. With such political turmoil in Turkey, Turkey's politics with Cyprus will become different than it is today. Once Iraq is partitioned, Turkey won't be too far behind with the threat of herself being partitioned. Interesting times ahead, for Turkey. Cyprus too, which may become the net benefactor from such a political storm hitting Turkey with the Kurds once Iraq is partitioned.

Erdoğan also laid what he described as a “historic responsibility” on the Iraqi government to keep the country together, saying those who would be responsible for a partition in Iraq would go down in history as devils, regardless of their sectarian or ethnic background.
