We are stying at the Avanti Village in Paphos. There are 10 of us altogether including small children so we didn't mind changing resort but we needed facilities for the kids.
They tried to put us in a 2 star with no kids pool at first but I stood my ground.
Also, I spoke to someone called Jason Beggs in the First choice customer service centre who admitted to me that they purposly didn't tell people about the building work at the time of booking as they knew that no one would book.
They are a complete set of Idiots.
I will never book with First Choce again.

Hi Guys!

I was back on the phone to LIBRA HOLIDAYS i explained the situation , i told her i have photos, a letter from Emma(thankyou!)
and i was put on hold for 8 mins to be told to get back in touch with First Choice as we had booked through them!!!

The lady who i spoke to didnt give me her name, was rude, abrupt....

That made me more annoyed!

I then phoned FirstChoice Huddersfield and spoke to a lady called Ellen who was really professional, and i explained i had spoken to Matthew a few days ago, but since recieving the firstchoice letter i wanted some explainations as to why Libra are fobbing me off!!! I also told her that i had been on Atlantica website and tried booking a holiday but it wont let you book if you put in the dates we are going...
Angela&Richard:I think you will be ok,it let me book for July!

Ellen will be in touch today after 11am, so i will update you all then....
It just bugs me!!!

4 weeks to go and still dont know which hotel im going to??? This is my wedding and honeymoon for chr**t sake...its so unfair :(

Speak Soon

Hi there
Very interested to see this site. Came accross it by accident, and I'm glad I did! Myself, partner and two young children are due to fly out on 22 July and stay in the Atlantica (alledgedly!) In a panic, I rang our holiday company - Olympic - and was greeted by a very rude woman who didn't even ask when we flying out, just immediately asked if I wanted to move hotels. Doesn't inspire confidence does it? I asked her again if she could confirm what date the hotel was due to be operational - and again she told me I could move hotels, but if any extra charges were incurred I would be liable. Some strong words were thrown out from my end, and in the end I 'phoned my travel agent. They were extremely nice and extremely surprised that I had been told this. She promised to look into it for me. About 2-3 hours later she 'phoned me back and said that she had spoken to someone in resort and it is due to be finished and open by the beginning of June. Also that if any charges were incurred IF I had to move I would not, and should not be liable. As I booked the hotel in good faith.
My uncle lives in Paphos and is hopefully going to check it out over the next couple of weeks, and if it looks anything like unfinished will be asking for further information. So as soon as I find out what's going on, I will update you on this site. good luck to those flying out in June, my advice is to go to your travel agent - not your travel company - and stand your ground. :)

Jo Jo

Good luck with the wedding, and the Miramare doesn't look a bad hotel, quite nice actually! If you could let us know on your return how the Atlantica looks it would be most appreciated!

Enjoy your day!!!

Hotel Miramare

Postby Pompey Girl » Sat May 19, 2007 9:51 pm

For anyone thats being swapped to The Miramare Hotel, please don't worry. I love it there, have just returned from a week there and am gonna go back again for another week in September. The only thing that ruined it this time was the weather which was not at its best. Since my last visit in May 06 it has been taken over by the Atlantica chain, it is in the process of being upgraded, I didn't think it needed it but guess the new owners want to decorate in their own style, they were however still doing some bedrooms, however this did not ruin it. The staff are great, the hotel fantastic and the food is out of this world! You won't get chips on the menu thats for sure!
I wouldnt say it caters well for children and families that had been booked into The Atlantica with kids weren't happy.
There are about 5 hotel cats, all very cute, and in need of TLC!
I'm sure you'll love the Miramare. If you have not already seen this site try using:
Holidays Uncovered
I always post a review after my holidays since becoming aware of this site, it sure helps when chosing a hotel!

I'm hoping to be in Limassol at some point next week. I'll pop into the 'Atlantica Hotel' to try and get some dates as to when it will be ready for anyone interested.
