If, Eliko, U.S. methods are as notoriously underhanded as you would like to think, then why do you suppose so many countries continue (key operative word) to look to the U.S. for aid? Why do they not immediately turn to the ... more ... 'altruistic' countries of the world? Perhaps you are confusing the scenario you illustrated above with a quid pro quo situation, i.e. free trade that more than likely will stimulate the aid seeker's economy? The U.S. has been known to do this (and not just occassionally), and it is genuinely GREAT STUFF because everyone benefits (notice I'm not winking back at you).

Eliko, I do not believe that the U.S. is "interested in the development of other nations for purely humanitarian reasons," and I can't ascertain how you've construed what I've written to mean so. I did, however, write that "everyone benefits," the U.S. included (so you may save your sympathy for someone who truly needs it ). Now, I can only conclude that your bias against the U.S. and those who you perceive as indicating anything 'favorable' about it, precludes you from making an objective attempt to understand what is written. Perhaps I should have initially come in slamming the U.S. in order to render my later remarks worthy of being understood by you?
