Fortunately, Eliko, unlike the 'Blind Beggarman' your vision is merely distorted. With corrective lenses, you will see that, if you give a hungry man a fish, then he will eat for a day; teach him to fish, and he will eat for a life time.

Filitsa, wise words indeed, the problem is that the policies of the US seem to be ever the same.

First you must destroy the means of survival, THEN render assistance and by so doing secure a grip on the affairs of those you profess to be helping.

Is that not the formula for all the 'Agricultural Assistance' they gave to other nations ?, fertilize the soil to such an extent that the nutrients diminished, thus making them dependant on and subject to, the generosity of their benefactors ?.

An extremely clever ploy wouldn't you agree ?, rob them of billions, repay them with millions. GREAT STUFF !!.

If, Eliko, U.S. methods are as notoriously underhanded as you would like to think, then why do you suppose so many countries continue (key operative word) to look to the U.S. for aid? Why do they not immediately turn to the ... more ... 'altruistic' countries of the world? Perhaps you are confusing the scenario you illustrated above with a quid pro quo situation, i.e. free trade that more than likely will stimulate the aid seeker's economy? The U.S. has been known to do this (and not just occassionally), and it is genuinely GREAT STUFF because everyone benefits (notice I'm not winking back at you). :)

Filitsa, If you can believe that the biggest robbers of land, one of the most underhanded and corrupt nations on earth are REALLY interested in the development of other nations for purely humanitarian reasons, you have my sympathy, DREAM ON.............................................

Eliko, I do not believe that the U.S. is "interested in the development of other nations for purely humanitarian reasons," and I can't ascertain how you've construed what I've written to mean so. I did, however, write that "everyone benefits," the U.S. included (so you may save your sympathy for someone who truly needs it :)). Now, I can only conclude that your bias against the U.S. and those who you perceive as indicating anything 'favorable' about it, precludes you from making an objective attempt to understand what is written. Perhaps I should have initially come in slamming the U.S. in order to render my later remarks worthy of being understood by you?
