I am an English man that is neither proud of or try to blank out the horrible unjust things my fore fathers have done in the past.
Which type of Cypriot are you?

Piratis,
What on earth are you talking about ?
parliament.uk url, those things have nothing to do with the UK parliament

That is the URL of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Select Committee which is a Committee of the 'lower' chamber of the UK parliament !

www.parliament.uk is the web address of the UK Parliament and www.publications.parliament.uk is the official publications office of Parliament

So who is misleading whom ? I guess you actually meant to say "those things have everything to do with the UK parliament"

- everything/nothing, easy mistake to make, Piratis

Drag ourselves into the decade Joff?

And do what once we are there? Surrender our patrimony and forget our birthplace? That is how we fix things? Is that how the British did it in 1940 when there were getting ready to "fight them on the beaches"?

Copperline asks about the "historcal virgins" that survived 3500 years. Well our dialect is one sure proof that we got the ancient Greek derived idiom from someone sometime. Greek place names and churches that survive from the 4th century are proof of the links and the continuity of our presence on the island.

People here often talk about countless conquerors. Countless? Really? More than conquerors of other places like the British isles that were overtaken by Romans, Saxons, Vikings, Normans? In Cyprus we see about an queal number of conquerors, Romans, Byzantines who were Greek so they do not count, Franks, Venetians, Ottomans and British. Where is the countlessness? The term countless reminds me of that unfortunate statement that Cyprus belongs to Turkey which is next door and not Greece which "thousands of miles away". I quote it inotto justify the Greek connection but to show how gross inaccuracy can become an assumption.

For the English gentlemen and women who are here telling us to get with it.

You sent a task force 9000 miles to save 1800 Britons from the invading Argentines. If invasion and foreign occupation is unacceptable for 1800 of your kin why is it acceptable for us? Is this veiled racism or what?
