"I often ask myself if people who have lived in mixed villages have a different view from people who never mixed. I wonder! "

Deniz to that question my experience leads me to say definitely! Mixed villages let peopel know each other close and personal.

Bir, hurry up will you! I read your account because it is fine read, but every segment has taught me something.

Can I have first refusal on the Greek rights?

Sorry,Nikitas...Those who know me well know I spend one week out of every two away from my computer. I am a part-time carer for my aging mother (the source of some of my stories)...I have been trying to keep writing in internet cafes and local libraries. But today I am going back to my hideout in the Blue Mountains near Sydney. The speed of my writing should pick up considerably... The Precious One permitting!( :D ) And Yes, you can have First Right of Refusal on the Greek rights!!! :)

Deniz, my first 6 years were spent in Xeros and that was a mixed village, my grandfather father and various uncles worked at the mine and as such worked with Turkish speaking Cypriots. I wasfortunate though young to remember muc. I would love to learn Turkish. I think I mentioned it many times before, I think it sounds so romantic. Anyway someday it may come.

I hope when I win the lotto and return to Cyprus to set up a youth centre on Ledra street near the divide so that it can be a multicultural centre mostly for greek and turkish speaking Cypriot children and youth. Someone has to start educating and encouraging the young to learn with each other from eachother about eachother and building a new Cyprus.

Wishful thinking that there wont be a dividing line, but things dont look so good. Politicians both side of the line have already decided on our fate.

I think you are very right my friend. Sad for everyone. I cannot fathom that politicians and people cannot see that we have the basis for a wonderful opportunity for people to develop both as human beings but also in ways that they have a rich culture and languages that surely can only benefit future generations.

Sorry Birk, we are taking over your thread.

Andrea, the world would be a better place with more people like you I am sure.

But don't apologise to Bir, he is taking so long with his writeups, i am suffering withdrawal symptoms.

Now come on man, pull that finger ( or otherwise) out and get on with it. I can't wait anymore.

Just a little aside to bir, how many episodes are there going to be please? I need to know, I must know, the waiting is killing me.

Aaaaaggggghhhhhhhh !

There could have also been a reluctance to open that sort of debate as reference to EOKA would have been made as well.....We could not have that now could we????

Gee Zan your beginning to sounds lie a broken record ;) I know the old bit stand true but the record ;):) You will be more helpful trying to bring all of your people together than attempts to separate them. Come on mate get with the program the world is full of war and violence don't ad to the fuel.

I'll take that as good advise coming from the king of originality....Thank you.

Now tell me some gossip!!!!!! What's new in the Cyprob???

Now as to bringing people together....I'm all for it....How about we do it in a fair way and secure the rights of the TCs as well. You seem to have agreed along those lines but still are impatient enough to want to jump the gun. Go back and have a look at the Annan Plan that you are so eager to put down without knowing much about it.

Annan and Humanist dream.....

A new country in which both sides can live together with the freedom of living on any part of the island....A new republic...A new world....A united Cyprus...The rights of both people protected.....All refugees returned...Turkish army out (All but the number agreed of Greek and Turkish)...A new constitution....A new flag...A new Anthem...A new world....

BUT..............Still you protest...........WHY????????

I have said told the story of my father growing up in a predominantly GC village and that he did not start to learn Turkish until he was 9 years old and that his mother died not speaking a word of Turkish. He has only had a year of education due to the problems in the world and Cyprus at the time but even he can distinguish between the rights of his people and the friends they had at the time. We all want to live together......I can't imagine anyone except for the most hardened GC haters, that would not want that but how that comes about is very important to them as it should be.
