According to the Cyprus Constitution, Yes. They are Turkish Cypriots.

??? So HERE you believe in the RoC constitution? Is this a permanent thing or is it pick and choose?

There anticedents have been living and been buried in Cyprus for generations. How can anyone take that away from them?

They can take it away from themselves. These people have consistantly shown that their allegence is with Turkey and not their 'fellow Cypriots'...and its a trend I am seeing with more and more so called 'Turkish Cypriots'

They are grateful to Turkey, but for Turkeys actions after the Greek Coup against the Republic, the TCs would have ben eliminated from Cyprus.

Like the Turks in Greece where eliminated under the Greek Junta? Oh sorry, that didnt happen. Are they also greatful to Turkey for eradicating the Cypriot culture and heritage in the north and the rape and pillaging they undertook?

Palio.. you asked me a straight question and you got a straight answer. I am sorry for not giving you an answer which pleases you. This is indeed the Cyprus Enigma. Its impossible to turn your back onto your saviours at the switch of a button I'm afraid. You have to see it from their point of view. The Greek Coupists tried to oust President Makarios, replace him with TC hater number one, N. Sampson, unite Cyprus with Greece.

I hate to say this to you. Could you put yourself in their shoes momentarily and tell us what you would honestly feel?. Honestly?

Happy New Year to you before the temperature gets too hot.

Welcome Potsy, you can get some basic info here:-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyprus

Or GOOGLE Cyprus and take your pick.

Most contributors to this site are quite civilised but it is sometimes dominated by idiots who of low breeding who have limited vocabulary and tend to use monosylabic and four letter words. Ignore them and don't respond to them, they may go away.

Thank you Jerry, Happy New Year to you

And a Happy and Prosperous New Year to you Deniz or with my limited Greek :- Chronia Bola kai Eftihismeno

But the Cypriots did not support the Greek coupists - that is what i dont understand. Infact, even the people of Greece did not support the Greek coupists. So in reality Deniz, you and i both know that Turkey's excuse of guarding the Turkish Cypriots on the island is bullshit.

No Palio, we dont think we are Turkish Cypriots, we know we are Turkish Cypriots. I and a lot of others are from the south of the island and due to circumstances were forcrd to go to the north.

As I said previously, you are capable of reading up and making up your own mind.  Greek Cypriots are nice people really. They dont mean to be horrible, vindictive, vengeful, arrogant, pigheaded etc etc...

There are even nicer ones like Phoenix. You will love her.

remind me.. who forced u into the north? we did?

There is no arguing to the fact that the Turkish Army in Cyprus does act as a deterrent, but I admit that megapolitics is the order of the day; unfortunately.

But regarding the 'allegiance' issue, ask me again when the last Greek flag flies over Cyprus, my answer then might be different.

A deterrent to what? Cypriots wanting to go home?

Like i said to someone else. You are always going to get Cypriots who see themselves as one with the people of Greece and other Greek people around the world. That is what the flag represents - it does not mean they want to merge the country with Greece. The difference between Cyprus and the illegal north is while the Cyprus government does not sympolise itself with the flag of Greece and is completely independent from it - the so called 'Turkish Cypriots' who pretend they want an independent state twin their 'TRNC' with the flag of Turkey in its 'official government' status. They even put statues of Ataturk everywhere and he didnt even step foot on Cyprus.

Their are no 'Turkish Cypriots' - well at least not on this website anyway.
