I know the area you are talking about quite well, I don't think you had crossed the border. The Pyla area is a complicted when it comes to authority you got TC , GC , UN and SBA authorities all within a few km. I reckon the flag you saw was just put up by some TC on his land. If you had accidentally passed the border you would probably be arrested. If you want to cross to the North just pass through one of the checkpoints and you will have no problems at all. We aren't monsters over here :P .

I do not fear Turks Cypriots, but I fear your authorities. I have many friends from all backgrounds, I see people as people. It was a strange area, I liked it until I saw the flags and got scared. Do you know anything about that community? They could come to Southern Cyprus without problem, it's weird. I felt as if I was in a different country.

I get the same feeling whenever I am in the south, it just feels weird not knowing what the signs mean, or not knowing the roads. There is no reason to be scared of the authorities, we are not run my a military regime. You will see military camps in certain places and the odd military truck, but thats it. Just ask other people who do cross to the North.

I did go over, a few years back. We saw our old village, my dad says he thought his village was bigger. I told him that his village sucks and I wanted to go back. My mum also thought her old village sucked too. My grandma cried and so did my uncle, they liked it. But ye, people were nice to us, nobody said anything bad to us. They knew we were from Southern Cyprus because of our cars. Some TC waved at us, they even gave us some pumpkins to take back with us.

The roads were bad, I got dizzy. But ye, if you know good English you should have no problem over in the South.

What about that community in Pyla, there not exactly from the North, or from the South. Do you have any info on them?

I don't know what exactly happened in Pyla but in 74 when the Turkish army landed the GC's in Pyla first fled then came back as I know it it was first controled by Turk ( not sure ) . Now it is administered by the UN niether TC or GC authorities can do anything there. But both sides have unmarked police cars drive around Pyla from time to time ( they shouldn't ). In Pyla it is also illegal to put up a TRNC or RoC flag as well ( only the greek or Turkish flag can be used) . Another funny thing is that nobody pays any electricity bills as well, so nearly every room in the houses have air-condictions over there.

So can the TC in Pyla come to Southern Cyprus and live supposedly like I am living now or are they confined to Pyla. How does that work? Is Pyla like prison, I don't understand. Can the citizens of Pyla go the Northern side or are they stuck there. I would really be interested to know.
