How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

am just watching an interesting show of the palestinian struggles as they have their country stolen, by Israel..... just like Cypriots have their country stolen from them.

DT with respect I have been in business in Cyprus for longer than I care to remember, fierce competition from Europe has never happened.A few have managed to break down the barriers, but most have fled with their tails between their legs.
I suppose what I am trying to say is GC business would be quiet happy if no resolution was found to the Cyprus problem..

Purdey, keeping the competion out has always been the easy option for Cypriots but you are wrong if you think they will suffer because of competion from Europe. The Cypriots are some of the best businessmen in the world you only have to look at their success in the UK, look how they restored their economy after the events of 1974. They don't like competion (who does?) but they are quite capable of standing their ground in Cyprus.

Exactly my point on several other posts. My point is Northern Cyprus, where if settlement is agreed and free market is adopted GC's will have to compete. From what I gather from Cypriot business and business men, they are not happy with this.
They see the North as been a more attractive option to the over developed South.

...it has always been a struggle of this island's elite. Those that are Turcophones desire to control the Turkish Cypriot market exclusively, and those that are Grecophone desire to control the traffic as a whole. However, this concept of Communism is anathema to these efforts, so it is hoped that the ground up approach which has been chosen by Greek Cypriots will fructify with the support of Turkish Cypriots who are not a part of this ruling wealth.

Why do I get the feeling, that you see a solution only as a two separate states, as in two separate countries. If a settlement is not ONE Cyprus, than where is the settlement that everyone wants. If it's ONE Cyprus, then EU and others will be trading with whole of Cyprus and not just "North or South" Cyprus. If one benefits, we will all benefit, and if one loses, we will all lose.

Spoken like a wise statesman and a true Cypriot . Im your equal , you are my equal , you suffer, I do too , you benefit and so do I.

As seen as the so-called 'TRNC' doesn't legally exist, then Mehmet Ali Talat is not a legitimate Cypriot President. There is also no such thing as a Cypriot Prime Minister,as there isn't any provision for a Prime Minister's post in the Cypriot Constitution,as His Excellency, the President of Cyprus is both head of state & head of government.

Political equality of the two communities is a must. This is the only patriotic way of going about solving the Cyprob if we care one ounce about this country. If the Greek Cypriot side embarks on cloud climbing once again, that is, if we have not learned from our past mistakes, then we will deserve anything that may happen to us.

I am pretty sure Christofias understands this plain truth (that is why he kicked Papadopoulos) and that if he were to close his ears to the serenes of the sick nationalists, Anastasiadres will stand by him and strive forward to solution.

it is why i stress the need for three governing bodies: one which is Sovereign over the representation of the people united without consideration, equal, where this State defends their Individual Rights, without compromise, and two National Assemblies, who have Jurisdiction over the infrastructure which it will provide in its territory to its citizens equally in a manner where persons, as a majority can demonstrate their respect and recognition of minorities amongst them, while they act in a manner that will sustain themselves.
