Genetics make up how we look, they dont make up how we feel. In england, there are british asians, british africans, and then people like me... british cypriots. I know what i am.

Vassilis Raphaelides was a anthellinas whose spite for Greece is understandable. He was a leftist in Greece in the post civil war era when arbitrary imprisonment, mistreatment and social exclusion was the norm for leftists.

He was also an Athenian who lived in the center of Athens, in the square kilometer which houses the intellectuals of Greece. These people have no experience of the rest of Greece and although they profess to care they do not. They are a totally self centered bunch.

Go to Olympos in Karpathos for Easter and then you see what being Greek is all about, and you can experience the tangible links to the past. It is amusing to see Karpathos in TV documentaries when the local people speak proper Greek with proper pronunciation of double consonants and the asshole itnerviewer, who lives in the intelligentisa square kilometer, whose ears are incapable of perceiving the sounds, feels obliged to clarify and re pronounce the words according to the Babiniotic rules.

Against the backdrop of Greece as portrayed by Raphaelides et al, it is easy to talk about barbarians etc.

We are Greeks, naturally, but being far away from the "national center" and especially untouched by the Athenocentric intelligentsia, we have retained more of our Greekness, since the intelligentsia was not here to erode it, and thus are now different, in fact more Greek than the mainlanders. The same goes for TCs by the way, they are more Turkish than the mainlanders. This is the essence of being Cypriot, we are mainlanders plus. And this pisses off both motherlands who take it on themselves to change us to their standards. They are both afraid to allow examples of "their" cutlure to flourish uncontrolled.

Hi Oracle,

is it true that all the representatives of the Chirokitian community have left the forum?

There is another forum better suited for the lack of discipline and civility characterized by a true Chirokitian which is being colonised by misfit settlers

Consider me one of the misfit Hellenic settlers colonising this forum and assimilating the Choirokitians. GR! is proving to be tough work, but "resistance is futile".

Really ... do men and women only "feel" different just because of the clothes they wear?

Or do they possess different chromosomes? (and hence different hormones, which make you "feel" all sorts of things 8) )

Paphitis ... no offence but you can take the boy out of the forum  but you can't take GR! out of Choirokitia!....

Even if you offered to have his children  ..... the offspring will be "GR!-Choirokitians" not "Hellenic-Paphitians" ....

  Do not expect such an offer to materialise, ever! GR's stubborness seems to indicate that he is not a Choirokitian, but a Paphian! :) I am positive that if he traces his extended family tree, he may find a connection to the Pafos area, probably somewhere around Stroumbi!

I wonder if GR's children are Choirokitian as well! :?

So all that time it was just a family feud ... a father and son not quite seeing eye to eye on whether to kill or kiss the Turks

What I was getting at is that GR! and Miltiades may be long lost relatives! :? Both want to kiss the Turks by denying Hellenism! Stroumbi is a strange place, even by Lefkosian standards! :)

BTW, my offspring will always be Paphian Hellenes, or I will offer them for adoption. Much like Spartans, we Paphians do not tolerate any defects!

I am not talking about Turkey here, but why the hell would Greece ever want to control their culture and prevent it from flourishing in Cyprus? :?

The biggest defence Cyprus has is it's Hellenism. Without it, we Cypriots would never have survived the countless persecutions over many centuries. We would have assimilated to the oppressors, but our Hellenism gave us strength to battle and persevere with our own identity against what must have been insurmountable tyranny!
