7.5 EURO FOR A GREEK COFFEE!!!

Postby EPSILON » Wed Sep 09, 2009 11:34 am

I was in Cyprus last weekend.Limassol.
There is a newly opened cafeteria in the old port area where i asked a double Greek coffee and a botle of water. I had been asked to pay Euro 7.5!!
High deperuture/huminity/not tourist area and Euro 7.5 for a coffee!!!

Same in Athens is costing between Euro 2.5-Euro 4.00 MAXIMUM.-depending on the place you are.

Someone must explain to the people there that, by employing Philippinos/Chinesse and other cheap waiters who are not speaking even the language of the country where they serve, should mean cheaper prices for clients.

I don't find that too expensive for a tourist area cafeteria.

1 X coffee = 3.00 euro (6.00 for a double)

1 X bottled water = 1.50

Next time go to a local kafenio.

There is a great traditional coffee house/restaurant called Fanis which is right in the centre of Limassol between the municipal market and the bus terminal. Tea and coffee cost 1 euro. If you order tea, you get a pot which gives you one and a half cups.
Why don't people take their business to places that charge reasonable prices?

I know the calculation Kafene but what i can not understand is how i can buy the same thing in Athens at half price and usually in much better places.Even in London or Lisbon or Madrid a similar case will cost you no more than Euro 4.00.

If you are a Cypriot ok next time you can go to Fanis but if you are a tourist you will not come again in Cyprus and problem is solved. This what i am trying to say.
And this terrable situation waiters to not speak Greek (even to be able to understand the orders in Greek) must be ended by a way.Is rediculus to visit your country and you to have to order in other language.Personally i always demand my order to be understood in Greek.
If they want to employ cheap employees they must spend some time to send them for basic Greek before they start working.
