One of the best views in North is on the hill of Vouni ruins, it is magnificent indeed. Of course the villages like Lapta,Karmi and Bellapais have magnificent scenes as well.

No problem Moose.
I personally love small villages with sceneries up in the mountains.I remember when i was litle kid me and my dad used to go around villages all the time.
By the way did anyone ever go to Kritou Terra. It used to be a mixed (TCs and GCs) village but now is all deserted with just a handfull of old people left. However before 1950s it used to be one of the wealthiest villages in Cyprus. It used to also have a huge casino. I remember that it had a nice scenery when i went there some years ago.
I read recently that the village is now sort of subsidised by the EU (something about a school opening there for kids across Europe).

Oh here i found the link: http://www.esc.com.cy/index.htm

I say Pedoulas... one because I love the mountains more than the sea and second because I was Christened in one of the churches there... not the big one, nor the one with the huge cross, but one higher up above the town...

Wow you chose the best village in the mountains!! My grandparebts summber house is there, we go and pick cherrys in June and its a great place to get away from the humidity in August. From our house we can see the church you got christened in can't remember the saints name right now though. My parents also re-newed their marriage vowels in the big church there. Its a really wonderful village and its full of my relatives so every 2km I have to stop and eat something (How Terrible for me !!)

Berengaria Hotel

It's the Berengaria Hotel. The best info I could find is on this Spanish page: www.ctv.es/USERS/sagastibelza/berenguel ... cuerdo.htm
From the babelfish translation, the hotel apparently opened in 1930. It was the first hotel of the region. President Makarios apparently was a frequent client. The hotel continued working until 1979, when a nutritional poisoning caused the authorities to order their closing. The hotel changed hands a couple of times and is supposedly undergoing renovation that was to have been completed in 2004. There was a fire in 2001 which may have derailed plans: http://www.hri.org/news/cyprus/cmnews/2 ... ws.html#02
And just to be sure we're talking about the same building (!!):
