Soldier 'too afraid to tell truth' on Baha Mousa

"A former British soldier has described for the first time how he saw two fellow servicemen beating and kicking a helpless Iraqi prisoner, shortly before he died.

The death of Baha Mousa, a hotel receptionist, has for years cast a shadow over the reputation of the British army, producing the first case in which a British soldier, Corporal Donald Payne, confessed to a war crime."

Convicted British War Criminal: Cpl Donald Payne

REPEATEDLY beat the men with fists and iron bars and kicked them when handcuffed.

FORCED them into the “stress position” ? standing knees bent and backs to the wall for long periods.

DEPRIVED them of sleep and hooded them in hessian sacks.

URINATED on them and poured their own urine into their mouths.

TWEAKED their nipples and threatened them with burning petrol.

Every phone call, email and internet click stored by 'state spying' databases

"All telecoms companies and internet service providers will be required by law to keep a record of every customer's personal communications, showing who they are contacting, when, where and which websites they are visiting.

Despite widespread opposition over Britain's growing surveillance society, 653 public bodies will be given access to the confidential information, including police, local councils, the Financial Services Authority, the Ambulance Service, fire authorities and even prison governors."

Britain's Abu Ghraib: Did Britain collude with US in abuse of Iraqis?

"Claims that British soldiers recreated the torture conditions of Abu Ghraib to commit the sexual and physical abuse of Iraqi civilians are being investigated by the Ministry of Defence.

The fresh allegations raise important questions about collusion between Britain and America over the ill-treatment of Iraqi prisoners during the insurgency. In one case, British soldiers are accused of piling bodies of Iraqi prisoners on top of each other and subjecting them to electric shocks, an echo of the abuse at the notorious US detention centre at Baghdad's Abu Ghraib prison."

MoD probes new Iraq abuse claims

“The Ministry of Defence has said it is investigating new allegations of abuse by the UK military in Iraq.

Lawyers acting for former Iraqi detainees are calling for a full public inquiry into 33 abuse claims made during UK military involvement there. One allegation is that two soldiers raped a 16-year-old boy in 2003.“

What happens to British troops is a consequence of their invasion and occupation of a sovereign country.

British soldiers sexually abused us, claim Iraqis

“Disturbing graphic allegations of sexual and physical abuse of Iraqi civilians by British soldiers are among 33 new torture cases being investigated by the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The fresh claims include allegations that female and male soldiers sexually abused and humiliated detainees in camps in southern Iraq, prompting comparisons with the torture practices employed by US soldiers at the notorious Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad.”
