Can someone explain the rules of cricket to me, in as simple terms as possible?

James, there's no easy way to explain Cricket to be honest, I tried explaining the rules to my cousin yesterday and it took about half an hour, after which he was still very confused - evidence being when he saw the score 137-7 by Australia and thought they were doing well... :roll:
