Money, money, money .....

While a fifth of the population lives beneath the poverty line, some 20% of Greeks are believed to earn more than €100,000 annually – even if, according to income tax records, 90% declare salaries of less than €30,000 a year.

"Greece has a lot of rich people who are not being taxed properly because there is so much tax evasion," finance minister Giorgos Papaconstantinou, told the Observer. "If you look at the actual numbers, you will see that the number of people declaring over €100,000 a year is roughly 15,000," he said. "I don't think that there is anyone in this country who believes there are only 15,000 Greeks earning more than €100,000 a year."

The growing flight of funds from Greece has whipped up much resentment among the public. "It's revolting," said one popular radio chat-show host last week. "After pillaging the country, they flee with their ill-gotten gains at the very mention of the word tax."

Greek Tax Evaders = Greek leeches!

Well done Oracle! So now you agree that Greece's fiscal crisis is because most Greeks are in actual fact, leeches and scum of the earth that have no respect for Greece as they have raped and pillaged her!

ELDYK are not the leeches, Greeks are for all the reasons YOU mention above, and for not giving 2 hoots for either Greece or Cyprus.

I think you deserve a round of applause for your mental break through! :D

Paphitis , you have , I see , come round my way of thinking .I have always considered and always will that the wealthy Greeks are the scum of the earth. You can not possibly meet a worst individual than a stuck up Greek rich who looks down on their fellow humans , hardly any of them are known for their generosity to charity , some do , and they have an insatiable appetite for material goods . I don't like them mate , have met them and socialized with them and they are not at all my type.

Greek Tax Evaders = Greek leeches!

No you morphing, jelly racist.

Any Tax evaders are bad for a government-controlled economy.

It's the fact they invested in Cyprus which singles them out for keeping it "in-house", at least

They spoke with their wallets.

invest in small business, fix social insurance deficit... the left overs will be enough to launch a housing program for young families. NOne should go to Universities, especially TEPAK...

More dams- recycled water projects to use for snow making.

Diversify the Cypriot tourist market by developing SKI tourism in Cyprus with snow making experts. Mt (F&^%ng) Buller in Victoria has been able to do it with recycled water with a similar (but reverse) latitude at much lower altitudes than Cyprus has to offer. Cyprus has the dryness/low humidity and altitude for artificial snowmaking and plenty of sunny days so the rain will not wash away the artificial snow. Cyprus can sell it itself as one of the only Sea'n'Ski locations in the EU. WHere else can you buy a single Holiday house for both Sea'N'Ski!

A modern sewerage system would be nice so we can through the paper down the loo and not keep it in the bin (filthy, unhygienic, and 3rd world practice)

God knows what the 1st time tourist to the Island think of us.

The only reason why SOME houses put toilet paper in a bin is because the house was built with 3" pipes instead of 4" pipes. Those of us who have built houses the right way, flush the paper down the toilet no problems.
