Ha! Your description fits the average (not rich) Cypriot PERFECTLY!
Have you met many Greek villagers who sold all their land to foreigners so that they could show off driving a used Mercedes?

Who the f*ck do you think you are? Coming here to insult Cypriots. Shouldn't you be on strike or something?

I think your comment is out of order as AlexISS was replying to Miltiades' racist anti-Greek rant.

No, milti was ranting against stuck up, wealthy Greeks (those who have helped bring Greece to its knees with their tax-evading corruption) whereas AlexISS was having a go at the average Cypriot - and here on a Cyprus Forum. I don't take kindly to that.

So, you are saying all wealthy Greeks are Tax-evaders? And that Greek Cypriots selling their land to foreigners for buying cars is fine?

What are you on about?

Are you denying that is what you were supporting above?

Errr, tell you what, O. We can pick this up again in, say, a day or two.

Why? Are you that plastered?

Go on. I'll let you off as you've realized how stupid you were to rush in to support your fellow wino without thinking through what he was actually ranting. This isn't the first time you've messed up.

No, we are discussing the tax evading behavior of most Greek leeches which have bought Greece to its knees. This forum is about facts, and your article from the Guardian seems to support our discussion about corrupt Greekos and their tax evading antics.

In case you have forgotten, I will post YOUR link from a UK news outlet once again!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/fe ... lions-debt

Now, I don't see any reputable source about Greek Cypriots selling their land to foreigners to buy expensive cars. And in any case, at least they will pay any taxes to the state, and at least we still have a functional economy with an excellent credit rating and we will not be responsible for the devaluation of the Euro!

I also don't appreciate how you defend someone coming here, on a Cypriot Forum and slandering all Cypriots!

I'm sorry, I had no idea I was supposed to sit back and watch you, Paphitis and Miltiades throw garbage at my people and do nothing. How come you have no comment on what I actually wrote?

If we're going to apply stereotypes here then I'm sorry but Cypriots are far more materialistic than Greeks.

And who the f*ck are you to ask who the f*ck am I? F*ck you!

Oh really? Did you forget that four years ago Greece had a development rate of 4% and the economy was in perfect shape? Were there no tax evaders then? What you so conveniently forget my little turncoat is that Greece spends BILLIONS every year for the defense of both Greece and Cyprus. Tell me again, how many fighters Cyprus has? How come she doesn't need any? Would you like me to tell you what your economy would be like if you had to pay all your bills yourself? Shut up and go grow a brain

The journalist's report is hardly only about "facts" Paphitis but minced with the usual British Hellenophobia. It says a lot about you that you would question other sources for credibility but not when you think you can score some kudos by cheap kicks at Greece in your (overt) attempt to appear intellectual.

Worse than this happened at the start of the credit crunch in the UK. Nobody stereotyped every wealthy Brit as a Tax evader.

Now, I don't see any reputable source about Greek Cypriots selling their land to foreigners to buy expensive cars. And in any case, at least they will pay any taxes to the state, and at least we still have a functional economy with an excellent credit rating and we will not be responsible for the devaluation of the Euro!

Long may good economic conditions continue.

But unlike you, I don't beat Cyprus to gain leverage for Greece, nor beat Greece to gain leverage for Cyprus.

They are BOTH one as far as our culture, history and future goes and the movement of all that money to Cyprus is evidence of how close the Greeks feel Cyprus is and how safe it is. This should tell you something of the loyalty of Greeks to Cyprus and their confidence in its future.

Now, as to whether Tax evasion is one of the Seven deadly sins then we can discuss that at length in another thread.

I also don't appreciate how you defend someone coming here, on a Cypriot Forum and slandering all Cypriots!

Since you had to butt in, I was pointing out that an original sin (Miltiades' racism) was being countered and as such was defending another's right (AlexISS') to counter wrongs (Miltiades).

That "someone" was not just "coming here" to slander Cypriots as he has been here long before you putting many Turkophills to rights and defending Cyprus, strongly!

Paphitis, you really take the biscuit!
