Why does a Muslim country (Turkey) want to join EU?

Everything related to politics in Cyprus and the rest of the world.

It has never occured to me before just how common this concept of a 'Messiah' is:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messianism

Many religions have a messiah concept, including the Jewish Messiah, the Christian Christ, the Muslim Mahdi, the Buddhist Maitreya, the Hindu Kalki and the Zoroastrian Saoshyant.

According to my opinion it is an economic reasons why Turkey wants to join EU.

Why many EU Countries and Pope do not want Turkey to join EU?

Because the Western countries and Pope consider Islam to be the biggest threat because Islam is a True Religion and when the truth will be heard like falsehood, falsehood will perish as falsehood by its nature bound to perish.

According to Vetican, Islam has superceed Catholics and it has become the number one single religion in the world. statistics are taken from UN

Check with Vetican for your satisfaction.

You sound like the fanatic extremist islamist guy who posted the remarks on the original thread...

What is wrong to be extremely kind, extremely honest, extremely just, extremely truthful, extremely loving, extremely peaceful etc? Every Muslim should be extremist but in the right sense. Every Muslim should be fundamentalist also because to be a good Doctor, you need to know the fundamentals of medical science, to be a good mathematician; you need to know the fundamentals of math, same way to be a good Muslim he/she needs to know fundamentals of Islam. There is not a single fundamental of Islam which is against the humanity as a whole.

I am not from those guys (Muslims or Non Muslims) who spread hatred on the name of religion or any other reason. I love and consider all human beings as my brothers and sisters in humanity. I may dislike which some human beings do as I dislike if someone lies, steals, rape etc. and it becomes my duty to guide those and if they don’t stop, to stop them, it is same as Doctor hates the disease not the patient

inter...every religious person believes their religion is the True one,the only path to God and salvation...Now,even considering just the mono-Theist religions, there are 3 main variations.....Judaism,Christianity and Islam...Tell me why your religion is the right one and the others wrong...And how can you be so sure...???

Dear BirKibrisli, Yes I agree that every religious person will claim his/her religion is the right religion. But as I said in my last post a verse from Quran that when the truth is heard like falsehood, falsehood will perish because falsehood by its nature bound to perish and truth stands out clear from Error.
I will start with the following verse from the Quran to explain why the Islam is the only true way of life acceptable in the sight of Almighty God

"Say: 'O People of the Book(Jews and Christians)! Come to common terms as between us and you: That we worship none but Allah(God); That we associate no partners with him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and patrons other than Allah(God)'. If then they turn back, Say ye: "Bear witness that we (at least) are Muslims (bowing to Allah's Will)". (Al - Qur'an 3:64)

We need to analyze the root source of all religions to find out which one is right religion. We should judge a judge a religion by the followers. The root source of all three religions are the Holy Scriptures and Prophets (May God be peace upon them).
First of we need to know the true concept of the God in all these three major religions.

CONCEPT OF GOD IN JUDAISM

“Shama Israelu Adonai Ila Hayno Adna Ikhad”
It is a Hebrew quotation which means
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord” [The Bible, Deut 6:4]
(ii) Consider the following verses from the Book of Isaiah :
“I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.” [The Bible, Isaiah 43:11]
(iii)“I am lord, and there is none else There is no God besides me.” [The Bible, Isaiah 45 : 5]
(iv)“I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me.”
[ The Bible, Isaiah 46:9]

The above verses are from old testaments which clearly convey the message that there is only One God and there is none like him. There are more verses but I will not post them because it will be a long post. The above verses should also be accepted by Christians as they also believe in Old testaments

CONCEPT OF GOD IN CHRISTIANITY:

“My Father is Greater than I”
(John 14:28)
“My Father is Greater than all”
(John 10:29)
“…I cast out devils by the spirit of God….”
(Mathew 12:28)
“…. with the finger of God cast out devils..…”
(Luke 11:20)

“I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge; and my judgement is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father, which hath sent me.”

If some says that I don’t seek my will but the will of God almighty is called Muslim in Arabic.

The mission of Jesus Christ (pbuh) – he came to fulfill the Law:

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the Prophets; I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

“Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the Kingdom of heaven; but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. (The Bible, Mathew 5: 17-20)

God sent Jesus (pbuh)

The Bible mentions the prophetic nature of Jesus’ mission in the following verses:

“… and the word whic h ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which has sent me. (The Bible, John 14:24)

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou has sent.” (The Bible,John 17:3)

Jesus refuted even a remote suggestion of his divinity. Consider the following incident mentioned in the Bible:

“And, behold, one came and said unto him, “Good master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?”

And he said unto him, “Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God; but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.”

The above statements from the Bible refute the Christian dogma of divinity of Jesus and of salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus (pubh). Jesus (pbuh) exhorts keeping the commandments as the means to achieve salvation. ( The Bible, Mathew 5: 17-20)

Jesus (pbuh) of Nazareth – a man approved of God

The following statement from the Bible supports the Islamic belief that Jesus (pbuh) was a prophet of God.

“Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, A man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know.”

The First Commandment is that God is One:

The Bible does not support the Christian belief in trinity at all. One of the scribes once asked Jesus (pbuh) as to which was the first commandment of all, to which Jesus (pbuh) merely repeated what Moses (pbuh) had said, namely:

“Shama Israelu Adonai Ila Hayno Adna Ikhat”.
This is a Hebrew quotation, which means:
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.” (Mark 12:29)

The word Trinity is no where mention in any version of Bible

CONCEPT OF GOD IN ISLAM:

Muslims accept the Qur’an, as the word of God revealed to Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him). Islam states that Allah sent messengers and prophets throughout the ages with the message of the Unity of God, and accountability in the Hereafter. Islam thus makes it an article of faith to believe in the earlier prophets, starting with Adam, and including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, John, Jesus and many others (may peace be on them all).

The most concise definition of God in Islam is given in four verses of Surah Ikhlas which is Chapter 112 of the Holy Qur’an:

1. “Say: He is Allah, The one and Only.
2. “Allah, the Eternal, Absolute.
3. “He begets not, nor is He begotten.
4. “And there is none like unto Him.”
[Holy Qur’an 112:1-4]

There is much more but I think the post is already long enough.

In short according to Islam all the Prophets and the Holy Scriptures teaches the basic essence to believe in one God and follow his commandments. There are lot of other similarities betweens Islam, Christianity and Judaism. As old and new Testaments the Quran is the last and final Testaments and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the last and final Prophet of God.

All other scriptures before Quran were time specific and people specific as Jesus (PBUH) says in the Bible, “Do not go to the way of gentile(non jews) but rather go to the lost sheep for Israel” “I have not sent but for the lost sheep of Israel” but Islam is for all mankind as it is mentioned in the Quran and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the prophet for all mankind not for just Arabs.

Conclusion
If Jews and Christians truly follow their scriptures and Prophets but natural they will have to accept the last and final Prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him) who is also prophesized in both old and new Testaments. They will have to follow the last and final testament which is Quran, guide for whole mankind. There is no other religous book on the face of the earth present in its original form but Quran only. Quran has been preseverd in its original language from last 1400 years and there is only one Quran in the whole world. there might be different translations in many different languages but original Quran in Arabic is the same every where from last 1400 years which as great sign for those who consider it with care.

Peace be upon all of you.

Peace and light be upon you too,intermoon..

You are obviously a true believer and one has to respect that...However,nothing in your post proves that one religion is truer than the other...What it proves is that each is a derivative of the other, and there were many other belief systems before them, and many others which followed...For example,if you ask a Scientologist, they will tell you that theirs is the only way to truth and hapiness...And their founder is the most recent and true prophet, who must be obeyed...

So it all comes down to faith, what you believe subjectively to be true...
Now tell me,considering all the wars and misery brought upon humanity as a result of religious dogma and conflicts, would the world not be a better place without these religions???

For Turkey, this is a cop out to pretend it is due to some religious divide. How backward can they be?

It's not because they are Muslim that they do not fit in! But, because they are Expansionist, belligerent, evil, selfish, genocidal, ethnic cleansing warmongers!
And Muslims who want to marry your 9 year old daughter.
