Besides, I appologize for all the wrongs and mistakes of my ancestors/members of my community had done to people of Cyprus throughout their rule, later during the British rule and afterwards 1960.

Speaking for myself, I would like to personally apologise to all those innocent Cypriot brothers and sisters who who were killed, injured,or otherwise traumatised by the actions of any millitia, fanatics or fascist groups that belonged to my community...I feel special empathy and compasson for the innocent children whose lives were turned upside down, their childhood ruined and stolen by the mindless civil war for the part the Greek Cypriots played in this sorry saga, I am deeply sorry.

Lack of originality but Bir's was good enough for me.

i too will say the shame i feel: as a Greek, i am ashamed for the compatriots who displayed Ignorance, and who put their personal interests above the qualities we all share as Humans. for them and myself i ask forgiveness from the murdered, disappeared, displaced, and the families who suffered this horror.

thanks Bir, (again). thanks to those who have the courage to stand up and join those who have this courage.

Let's not forget Turkey's failed invasion attempt in 1964!

Just because they failed, it doesn't mean there weren't GCs racially targeted and killed with bombs and Napalm. Not to mention the turmoil it catapulted the country into, towards providing the climate for their successful invasion in 1974.

How about an apology for that?

OK, now that you have kissed and made up, will the turks now please F O back to turkey so we can have our Island back???

Bir, your apologies are false and you damn well know it. In the next breath you'll be threatening some other poor soul who dared croos your path and we GCs must all pay the price.

Please, don't insult us with your BS mate, cos I just know it doesn't come from the heart.

Read you last 50 posts, and tell me now, that you are sincerely apologising.

In fact you remind me of a wife beater, who beats the crap out of his wife and then he says sorry. Does he mean it? F no! Thats you Bir all over.

As my mate freddie would say. (and I do miss the bugger regardless),

mavron laomenon pou tin kelle mou.

Reh freddie pou pies je hahikes reh.

Unkie GR appreciates Bir’s, Insan’s, Halil’s, and DTA’s apologies to our people, and on behalf of myself and my Choirokitian ancestors hereby extend my apologies to all Turkish Cypriots for all the past stupidities and wrongdoings coming from our people.

However, if we can’t agree to a one-person-one-vote system under a modern democracy then in future we should do it properly with an all-out war! :D

It's very easy to apologise for 1974 because the atrocity is staring everyone in the face. An apology to such a thing is an insult without any effort to correct it.

Much harder to apologise for the real crux of the problem; the sabotage of the freedom fight in the 50s and the destruction of the government in the 60's and threats to invade Cyprus initiating from that time. An apology to these events will nullify any false justifications Turkey has used to substantiate its 1974 invasion. Apologising for 1974, only, is like saying sorry we hurt you in the process of righting all those wrongs you did to us in the past; whilst knowing all the while this is the way to keep what you have wrongfully gained -- apologise for causing our symptoms is not the same as apologising for being responsible for the actual cause!

Besides, an apology is meaningless without sincere efforts to correct the wrong ...
