IPS Journalist Critical of Turkish Govt Faces 10 Days in Prison Before Deportation

IPS journalist Jake Hess has centered his writing around the Turkish government’s treatment of Kurds along their border with Iraqi Kurdistan. But his recent articles got a little too critical, at least in the Turkish government’s view, and he wound up in prison and charged with terrorism.

US Journalist to Be Deported From Turkey

Jake Hess, a U.S. freelance journalist who also wrote for IPS on Kurdish rights within Turkey, is to be deported following a government order.

“I’m waiting to be sent back to the U.S,” says Hess, who is a U.S. citizen.

Jake Hess was taken into custody by Turkish anti-terror police on Aug. 11 from a hotel in Diyarbakir, a Kurdish-dominated area in southeastern Turkey where he had been staying. He was kept under detention and interrogated over three days. His deportation was ordered Sunday.

“Our Man in Turkey” – The Jake Hess Story

OK, so he’s not really “our” man, he’s Inter Press Service’s (IPS’s) man in Turkey, but the articles of Jake Hess, as was reported by a number of media outlets, his writings have appeared on Antiwar.com.

But who is this 25 year old New Hampshirite and why does it matter? Jake Hess was arrested on Wednesday, nearly a week ago, on terrorism charges in Turkey.

Turkish military base in Azerbaijan threat to Armenia, Russia

Turkey is a country with great geopolitical ambitions going far beyond its territories. No doubt, Azerbaijan views Turkey as one of the most important allies and partners in the region. So we do not know about the possible format of a military base Azerbaijan is going to open in Nakhichevan. Air defense, missile or air forces may be stationed there,” Voice of Russia reports, referring to Igor Korotchenko, Editor-in-Chief of the National Defense magazine.

And Greece and Russia but then that is hardly a headline for Voice of America is it? Also it leads me to questions how this bit of news is proof of Turkey's secular Islamo-fascism?

To the war-mongering Anglo/Americans and their sympathizers, a relationship with Iran is considered Islamofascism! Ask the likes of Bananiot or Miltiades, and they will confirm.

so do you think that the US/UK feel China and Russia are Islamo-fascist? as both countries have a relationship with Iran, in fact China blocks or softens UNSC resolutions against Iran.

No doubt a number of other countries have relationships with Iran, I know a Swiss company may even be building Oil/gas infrastructure in Iran, yet that does not imply that the countries concerned are islamo-fascist.

Without conjecture of USA/UK political/diplomatic strategic thinking, Please explain how Turkey taking Greece, Russia and Iran off it 'enemy' list make Turkey Islamo-fascist?
