I am by no means a fan of Islam, but I am also not a fan of the Church’s favourite past time of burning books.

Along comes an American pastor named Terry Jones of Florida who thought it might be a good idea to piss on the Muslim’s battery and burn a few Korans to commemorate the 9/11 attacks on Saturday.

I suppose he lives in a free country and can start his barbeque anyway he wants. Some use newspaper, others use the Koran.

I do not know what it would achieve to lower oneself to their level. Besides this kind of thing, once it starts, never stops. Today they are burning the Koran, tomorrow it is the Talmud, the Bible, the Kama Sutra, Asterix or some other comic book… and before you know it, we are back in the Dark Ages where we burned books and libraries to keep people in perpetual ignorance and set back civilization by a thousand years.

Nevertheless, I found a piece on the website African Crisis about Islam that comes from a book by Dr. Peter Hammond. It tells you what happens when Muslim populations grows in countries. So you be the judge wheter Terry Jones’ burning of the Koran is justified or not.

Therefore, in some areas of certain nations, Muslim Imams and extremists exercise more power than the national average would indicate.

Today’s 1.5 billion Muslims make up 22% of the world’s population. But their birth rates dwarf the birth rates of Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, and all other believers. Muslims will exceed 50% of the world’s population by the end of this century.

What a wonderful opportunity for Barak Obama to distance himself from the shambles of Iraq AND Afghanistan the burning of the Qur'an will prove to be, whether the burning takes place or not.

As a political manoeuvre, the reporting of the intended 'Insult to Islam' is nothing short of a masterpiece since it is guaranteed to increase tensions throughout the Muslim communities.

One can just imagine Obama declaring that "All the good work achieved by the Americans and it's allies in the past few years, has been blighted by the actions of a small time preacher in Florida"

Worth a good laugh I think, SURELY as President, Obama could easily have silenced this intended insult, he is well aware of the sensitivity of such an action and (like so many other incidents which are banned from publicity) it would represent a small matter for him to do so.

Henceforth, ANY action against the troops now left in peril in both locations (particularly Iraq) can be attributed to the 'Insult', it does not even require a 'Burning of the Qur'an' since the damage is already done and anyone with the slightest knowledge of Islam will know it.

The recent withdrawal of troops from Iraq, was supposed to indicate that 'All is well' in the region, THIS masterpiece of political chicanery will serve well in the months ahead and the general public will probably accept that everything would have been alright, had not such an 'Insult' (possibly 'Action') occurred. (IMHO)

Bosnia for fucks sake? The real genocide was committed there and it was not done by the "muslims"!

The Holocaust was not done by the "muslims", and neither were the massacres in Russia or China, or Vietnam, Iraq, Cambodia, Japan, South Africa, USA, South America, Algeria, Cyprus and anywhere else I cannot remember from the top of my head, but most probably pretty much any Imperial leftover.

And Mike here claims he has figured something new out? The correlation between the rise of the percentage of a certain group and the rise of their demands?
