Interesting Reading on Greek Economy

Postby kafenes » Sun Sep 12, 2010 10:18 am

Since the flavour of the day is Greece's Economy, I thought this might be an interesting and eye opening read, or maybe not.

I think Solon (6th Century BC) had a point. The richer you are, the more say you have in running the country. That will make them all declare their true wealth! :D

I'd substitute "depressing" for "interesting"

In my opinion history will view this episode in Greek history as one of internal corruption and financial mismanagement (obviously!), but also of one when Greece was mercilessly exploited by external forces, of which the Goldman Sachs 'deal' is just one tiny example. I don't believe Greek society is any more 'broken' than in many other countries - this is one of many generalisations in the article. Granted there is also some interesting information too......
