we can take a solution or equally carry on without one. The last thing we are is desperate- we are just waiting to see the outcome of Oct 3 talks at the moment- most likely scenario we will carry on the boom, developing our tourist trade thereafter.
Best possible out come Turkey does not join the Eu, we know where we stand and keep out the big international business concerns keeping our unique unspoilt flavour which our tourists love.

We can also live with the Eu too. We r in a no loose situation, We certainly are not desperate.

So you support division and no solution of the problem?

At the end of the day Cyprus and Greece want Turkey in the EU. It makes much more sense to have a wealthy neighbour strapped in with economic and human rights regulations which will allow for cooperation and stability in the region rather than an a aggresive stone age militaristic neighbour.

France Germany and others in the EU have been trying to use Greece for decades to keep the Turks at the gates of the EU. Papandreou blew everyones mind when he said he want the Turks to cooperate with us in the EU.

AA

well said mate.

france dont want turkey (a) coz they fear a british german turkish pact will not be in their interests.

(b) and more understandable is that Turkey produces so much agricultural produce it is bound to make a big fat dent in Frances agrigulture policy.

(c) coz the w - - - - - - hate everyone anyway, even those who liberated them from their enemies and fought alongside them in two world wars. well when i say fought a-l-o-n-g side them i think i mean fought instead of them in two world wars.

(d) coz they eat frogs and turkey dont export any.

Moderators Note: Offensive personal remark directed at another forum member removed Let me pose you this question, do you think Germany would be let in the EU if they denied the genocide of Jews had occurred? If they didn't recognize France?

And The British and the Germans will never have a 'pact', the pact is between France and Germany and at the moment Spain as well. The British and the Turks are stooges of the Americans, thats why I don't want them in the EU. They will simply act in America's interests.

imho

Greece and Cyprus too will also probably be in this pact.

what the french fear most is damage to their agriculture policy, which will bring down any govt - (french farmers will riot every day in paris) and their declining influence, something which they have had problems in coming to terms with, unlike The British.

They see themselves as a world super power, and just like the greeks they think they are the inventors of culture and civilised society. well thats my opinion anyway.

The italians are happy go lucky.
the scandanavians are looking to form their own union.
the poles are seeking an identity.
the spanish are experimenting with their identity.
the austrians are try to prove they have an identity.
the smaller nations are being subsidised
and the belgique are grateful to be raking it in.

We will.

Tell me, Europe is FAR more unified than Asia, we have a common currency, a common Religion, a common Political Structure (Social Democracy), common values across the Continent and common concerns. We have a centralized power structure in Brussels and a Supreme Court in Europe as well... Granted we are having tremendous problems laying out the future of our Union. But if we are having the problems of this magnitude, imagine the problems in Asia, tell me, as many Turks seem to be key proponents of Asian Union, how will a politically unified Asia work? Will India and Pakistna decide to become great friends? How about the two Koreas? How about China and it's neighbours, how about Bangladesh and Pakistan and India.... The list goes on.
