The gas from both these fields is being slated for export and the preferred destination is the Far East where the highest prices can be fetched.

Yes... but it's only one source ... looking for confirmations elsewhere.

The source of the story appears to be the Middle East Economic Survey, but it's a subscriber only read... :x

Let's suppose the above is true. The question is HOW will it be transported to Russia/China? :? I think it's rubbish.

Shipped mate... in Kikapu's Giant Gas Bags ... :D

Here's a vid of the pipeline-laying ship "Solitaire", very impressive bit of kit, welding sections of pipe together at a rate of kms per day...

... oh and it's currently under contract to Noble Energy and laying pipe in the Israeli Leviathan field, next to Aphrodite... :D

Oh dear, have gone off the idea of K's Gas Bags.

China & India are definitely good prospective buyers, provided they take care of the transportation.
Turkey in the North, Arab countries in the South and East, Somalian pirates, etc.

I am the author of this article.

In regards to your concerns about the ability of Greece to join and other...

Parcel # 4 (or Herodotus) of the Cypriot Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) which is adjacent to the Greek EEZ is estimated to have three times more oil & gas reserves than parcel # 12 (or Aphrodite) currently under investigation. It is also estimated that the Greek EEZ has significant oil & gas reserves. This is one of the main reasons Greece is not kicked out of the EU! Can you imagine a scenario where Greece is back to the Drachma selling LNG to the EU? The EU will never “allow” it!

Moreover, why do you think that all the great powers, USA, Germany, France, Russia, UK, rushed into sending a message to the Turks of a no-go with their threats! It is not because they love Cyprus. The fact that Cyprus abides to international law means nothing to them. If they were concerned about international law, Turkey wouldn’t be occupying illegally almost 40% of the island! It is the first time ever that Europe is guaranteed an uninterrupted supply of a traditional energy source and transit route by an EU member country!

It would be a grave mistake for Cyprus to get Greece involved in this project. Doing so would GUARANTEE Turkey’s illegal stay on Cyprus for decades to come!

If Cyprus is clever they will negotiate to transfer oil/gas via Turkey and liberate her occupied territory all in one lucrative deal. The costs would also be far lower than going via distant Greece.

It is Cyprus’ dealings with Greece that have brought about calamity to this island and will continue doing so unless this nuisance of an “ally” is gotten rid of.

Things heating up on the ocean floor...

Cyprus group plans Greece-Israel electricity link:

A Cyprus-based group including Greece's state-controlled power utility PPC said on Monday it planned to lay the world's longest subsea power cable linking Europe and Asia.

At 540 nautical miles (1000 kms) long and lying at a maximum depth of 2,000 metres, the link, called the EuroAsia Interconnector project, would be the longest in the world, said Nassos Ktoridis, chairman of the DEH-Quantum Energy partnership behind the project.

The cable could carry 2,000 megawatts of electricity east to west across the Mediterranean linking Israel, Cyprus and Greece.

"It could feed electricity to the most western and northern points of Europe," Ktoridis said. The project was estimated to cost 1.5 bilion euros with an estimated completion within 36 months of its launch.

At a presentation in Nicosia, Ktoridis said the cable would be administered by commercial parties to the project as well as representatives from the states of Greece, Israel and Cyprus.

Asked where the electricity could be generated, Ktoridis said :"If Israel starts natural gas exports it could be used to generate electricity, along with that of Cyprus later."

I think we are rushing into this. I say build the Gas terminal at Vassilikos and for the next 10 years just pump enough for Cyprus consumption.
Our economy would hit the roof if this fuel is sold at less than half of the current world prices.

By the year 2020, the price of this fuel will most likely double. Then we can start exporting and pile up the billions in the bank...

We can do this by stalling the studies about pipelines, distribution etc.

Perhaps allow Turkey to export 40-50% of the Cypriot gas reserves, in exchange of a favorable solution of the Cyprob...

We all know, Israel would never partner with Turkey when it comes to their gas reserves. Therefor, the proposed trans Med pipeline to Europe
would carry 100% Israeli and 50% Cypriot gas.

This settlement could make everyone happy and tensions should finally subside.
