Over the past few days a conflict has surfaced at the Occupation on the balance in the action between an out and out Anti-Capitalist Protest and a One CY Protest. Reports are of a very serious rift between the two wings.

Quite where the Occupation is going next will be likely decided at a make or break General Assembly this Friday 9th starting at 6.30pm.

The following is as written by someone who was active in the Occupation. It is self-explanatory...

Dear supporters for the unification of Cyprus, as many of you may have realised, the Occupy movement has been drained from creative, intellectual, political, substantive, pragmatic, productive, argumentative, energetic, thought. But what happens when something drains? What remains? Leftovers? Scum? Wonderful people have passed through this movement, active, open-minded, who believed beyond a communist ideology, an anarchist one, a capitalist one, a post-modern one, a poonarchist one. While we all fall into the trap of personalising and making hasty moves, we inadvertently forget what brought us here, and neglect to tell each other why we want to move on. Where is the honesty? Where has it gone? Down? With the drain? The scum? I refuse, I reject, I resist. I will come this Friday, at this special GA, and I want to see others who have left. I want to see others who felt uncomfortable being there. I want to see others who felt disappointed. I will speak honestly, why and how, I am not there. I will speak, honestly, of how I felt, what I feel, what I want to feel. I want to hear that there are others who can speak like this, honestly, to one another. I want to know that there are others, who will listen to me honestly. I want to see others, who have not been there in a long time, and tell me honestly, why. This is a call for a GA for supporters for the unification of Cyprus, who have taken distance from the movement and want to speak their minds. It's Spring, we've had our shares of snows and the penetrating winds of the putrid cold. This Friday 9 March @ 6.30pm, let's shed our winter skins at this special GA, and let go of our weights.

...when i first heard of these events, obviously i was saddened. as is said a week is a long time in politics, this GA will be interesting, i am hoping that the issues will be resolved. what can be the result if a majority assembled to oust the bullies who have isolated and identified themselves. in any case this is a very early part of the game; there are months to go if Turkey is true to her threats this time, with proposals that Cyprus should be torn apart.

Flags were and still are the issue, Freedom Riders are needed this summer, to circle the whole island. school children should send their Cypriot Flags to the Ledras Crossing this spring.

...what i learned from today:

at each GA, option "B" should be a choice so that the dialog has this form of expression too.

the Buffer Zone should be the safest place on the island; without being judged or attacked. (my fav. comment)

collective decisions are an empty promise if they are not kept collectively.

in over thirty minutes of video, the word Cyprus was not mentioned once.

publishing the GA in a written form is a good thing

...if it is a Cypriot movement, it is not expressing this clearly at all, their agenda is International in its scope, Cyprus in this context has been diminished.

Flags, will invite more flags; no flag invites no Cypriot: is this truly an Occupation of the Buffer Zone For Cyprus?

...thanks bill, please keep us informed.

Quick update on the Occupy. There has been a reorganisation, which promises a reinvigoration of the Protest.

Here is a short vid trailer that was posted earlier...
