Oh boy. And which country will the jihadists flood after the south corridors to Jordan are sealed?

Syrian tanks lay siege to key rebel-held town athwart Damascus-Golan highway
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report October 8, 2013, 11:02 PM (IDT)

Two Syrian armored brigades set out from Damascus Monday night, Oct. 7, to link up with forces already fighting in southern Syria to reach Quneitra opposite the Israeli Golan border. DEBKAfile’s military and intelligence sources report long convoys of around 200 tanks, APCs, armored vehicles and self-propelled artillery are heading for an assembly-point south of the Daraa in the south……..
…….The Syrian army is saturating Khan Arnabeh with concentrated fire from tanks, aircraft and self-propelled artillery. DEBKAfile’s military sources report that rebel resistance is light – and not only on the Golan. Western military sources report that the rebels are fighting half-heartedly in other battle sectors across Syria with little spirit to do more than hold their ground.
……..During the day, as the battles came closer to the Israeli border, the IDF ordered the crews working on the Golan security fence to leave the area for their own safety.
The Syrian rebel forces clinging to small locations along the Israeli border are small and not expected to last long under a sizeable Syria military assault, one of whose objectives is undoubtedly to sever the links between rebel positions on the Golan and the IDF.
The only outward sign of those links is the regular transfer of injured rebels to Israeli hospitals for medical treatment  - an estimated 200 have so far been treated.

Syrian Opposition: Israel is not an Enemy Anymore, but a Partner

Image

“Istanbul Council” has thanked Israel for the ongoing supplies to its insurgents in Syria and called on to keep curing the wounded fighters in its hospitals within the framework of coordination between the opposition and Israel.

“Walah” website has quoted an Israeli radio as saying that “Jacob Margi, who is a member in Knesset of the Shas Party, has met in Turkey the armed groups’ representatives, who asked for providing support and supplies for them, voicing their appreciation to the treatment that Israel is providing to their injuries.”

“I had an impression about the delegation that I have met, which is depressed from the West’s support,” Margi said.

Muhammad Adnan, a Syrian opponent who heads the so-called “Syrian Revolutionaries union in Syria”, that the circumstances proved that Israel is not an enemy anymore, but a partner in the struggle against a common enemy.

The Radio highlighted that the Syrian opposition has delivered to Margi new requisites demanding Israel to increase its Israeli support to the opposition not only delivering treatment.

Greek coastguard halts ship carrying large amounts of arms to Turkey then Syria

The Greek coastguard on Nov. 9 intercepted a Sierra Leone-flagged cargo ship in the southeastern Aegean Sea with around 20,000 Kalashnikov assault rifles on board, officials said.

The cargo ship, Nour M, was taken to the island of Rhodes where its Turkish captain and seven crew members were placed under arrest, coastguard sources said.

In a statement, the coastguard said efforts to give a full account of the firearms and ammunition on board the cargo ship were ongoing.

“The exact destination of the arms and ammunition has yet to be verified,” the coastguard statement said.

The state-run Athens News Agency reported that the vessel, which was intercepted near the Greek island of Symi, had set sail from Ukraine and was destined for the Turkish port of İskenderun.

Aside from the firearms, it was also allegedly carrying a large quantity of explosives, ANA said.

The agency noted that the ports of Tartous in Syria and Tripoli in Libya had also been declared as destination ports to marine traffic systems, while İskenderun was declared as the destination port by the ship’s captain.

The Nour M is also believed to have been used in the past for drug trafficking, ANA said.

The day’s carnage must be viewed against the absurdly horrendous events and unspeakable horrors of the preceding week. As helicopters flew their daily sorties over rebel areas of east Aleppo, they dropped fury and death from the sky, manifested in their deadly payload of half-ton TNT barrels filled with vicious metal shrapnel for maximum maiming effect. The resulting scenes of devastation, destruction and mayhem were beamed via news stations and social media to an uncaring world, which had quite frankly become bored and desensitized to Syrian suffering. Burned and charred vehicles, gutted and collapsed buildings as well as an abundance of severed body parts featured prominently in the macabre nightmare landscapes the scores of videos and pictures depicted.

Turks Fighting in Syria Together With Militants
By Hellas Frappe on 29.12.13

About 500 Turks crossed the border into Syria in order to join militants who have been fighting there, the Turkish Ministry for Internal Affairs said in a report that was published earlier in December. According to the document, the Turkish soldiers were (and have been) fighting on the side of al-Nusra Front and The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant group, connected with al-Qaeda.

Based on information from the Turkish Intelligence service and local authorities, the authors of the report point out that at least 13 Turks from the al-Nusra Front died in Syria. In all, and since the beginning of the Syrian conflict in March 2011, at least 75 Turks lost their lives fighting alongside the rebels.

Turkish‬ army covered and facilitated terrorists’ attack on Syrian-Turkish borders

Posted on March 21, 2014 by friendsofsyria
New York, (SANA) Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Dr. Bashar al-‪Jaafari‬ on Friday sent two identical letters to the ‪UN ‬Secretary-General and the head of the Security Council.

In the letters, al-Jaafari said “following up on our letters directed to you on terrorist activities carried out by terrorist groups and entities linked to Al Qaeda in the Syrian Arab Republic and the direct involvement of the Turkish government in supporting said activities, and based on instructions from the Syrian government, I would like to bring to your attention the following:

“As part of the constant efforts exerted by the regimes of some states in the region and outside to foil the political solution for the crisis in Syria and insisting on employing the option of violence and terrorism, armed terrorist groups – most of their members affiliated with the terrorist organizations Jabhat al-Nusra and al-Islam Army – snuck across Turkish territories on Friday and attacked the Syrian side of the border crossing on the Syrian-Turkish borders in the area of Kasab in Lattakia’s northern countryside, and when Syrian Arab Army units repelled this attack, the Turkish army covered this terrorist attack and provided logistic and military support for it.”

Al-Jaafari said that this position shows the continuation of Turkey’s role in supporting terrorism in the region, proving that it provides military support to Al Qaeda and affiliated organizations regardless of the names they operate under, in addition to constituting a violation of international law, the UN charter, and the basis of friendly and good neighbor relations among countries.

Syria’s permanent representative said that the Turkish authorities’ allowing thousands of foreign terrorists, extremists and mercenaries from across the world to enter Syria, and providing them with funds, weapons and other forms of support, constitute blatant violations of international agreements on counter-terrorism and a severe breach of relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly resolutions nos. 1267/1999, 1373/2001, and 1624/2005 which all affirm that all UN member countries must refrain from providing any sort of explicit or implicit support or funding or facilitations to entities and individuals involved in terrorist activities.

Al-Jaafari said that the Syrian Arab Republic’s government demands that the Security Council condemn this terrorist attack on Syrian territories from Turkish territories, condemn the Turkish involvement which consists of facilitating and covering the attack, and force the Turkish authorities to refrain from providing any sort of explicit or implicit support for terrorist activities in Syria carried out by terrorist group affiliated to Al Qaeda and subscribing to its mentality under support from Arab, regional and western countries.

He concluded the letters by saying that the Syrian Arab Republic asserts that employing double-standards in dealing with the terrorism targeting Syria’s state and people will lead to foiling efforts for reaching a political solution, causing terrorism to spread to other countries, particularly some neighboring countries which harbor terrorist groups, train them, arm them, and facilitate their illegal entry through their lands into Syria, in addition to causing instability in the region and the world and threatening their security.

...sadly, the facts i read today:

ALEPPO, Syria — A startling new phenomenon has begun to emerge in the protracted Syrian civil war and has solidified as a systemic tactic used liberally by both sides of the conflict: the deliberate targeting of innocent civilians. Aside from the obvious sectarian dimension of some of the violence, usually a Syrian’s only crime is to be unfortunate enough to be a resident of a targeted town, village or neighborhood, and automatically assumed to be a base of support for whichever side controlled that area. This, of course, is an irrational way to conduct a war, as the strategic goal should be to win as much popular support as possible without alienating any significant portion of the population. Nevertheless, the warring sides in Syria seem to have decided that exacting terrible vengeance and retribution on the innocent is the most convenient way to vent their anger and hatred.

http://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/origina ... -93108473#

That both sides saw nothing illogical about shelling the same area with exactly the same civilians under the pretense that they were traitors speaks volumes about the demented mentality of the people running the show. What’s even worse than the absurd, murderous rampages that the parties to this conflict seem to enjoy inflicting on their fellow countrymen are their hard-line supporters, who call for even more violence against civilians, a sign of the dehumanizing effect this conflict has had on people. For example, one pro-regime group calls for using the remaining 7% of chemical weapons not yet handed over to to “cleanse” east Aleppo, while another rebel supporter encourages a rebel artillery operator asking for coordinates to just fire anywhere in Aleppo, saying it’s all a valid target.
