Erdoğan says PKK threat from Syria may prompt Turkish military retaliation

25 July 2012 / TODAYSZAMAN.COM,
The Turkish prime minister has warned that Turkey won't hesitate to retaliate militarily to any threat emanating from Syria's north as he stated that Syria's embattled President Bashar al-Assad is abandoning territories close to the Turkish border to Kurdish groups said to be linked to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said in an interview with TV 24 on Wednesday that a PKK-linked Kurdish presence could give Turkey cause to intervene militarily in Syria, as it has done repeatedly in northern Iraq since that region slipped from Baghdad's grip following the 1991 Gulf War.
“The terrorist PKK organization's cooperation with the [Democratic Union Party] PYD is something we cannot look favorably upon,” Erdoğan said in the interview. “If a formation that's going to be a problem, if there is a terror operation, [if] an irritant emerges, then intervening would be our most natural right.”

...i can see Erdogan fighting himself into the creation of a Kurdish State, Kurds from 3 Nations where it seems one relents, one is impotent, with only Turkey remaining too proud. and with all that gaz bubbling here and there, there will be lots of reasons to get the popcorn out.

Just think of it:

The Iragi Kurdistan is a fact.
The Syrian Kurdistan is in the making.
How long will it be before the Turkish Kurdistan is declared? What will that mean for Turkey?

P.S. Its funny how the Turks are trying to persuade the Irish, the Iberians and the American Indians that they are Turkish but they can not persuade the inhabitants of Asia Minor

FM: Turkey won’t allow ‘terrorist’ groups at Syria border.

27 July 2012 / REUTERS, İSTANBUL
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said on Friday Turkey would not allow what he called "terrorist" groups like the terrorist Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) or al-Qaeda to establish a presence in Syria near the Turkish border.

Interpretation: It allows PKK to have an established presence and activity ONLY IN Turkey but not on the border WITH it!

indeed, this would be possible, if Turkey understood Ataturk's epiphany when once together all Turks fought Ottomans. Bicommunal needs a definition, somehow the "Turks" can be defeated. "they" have held the agenda since the "making" of Kemal in Turkey, the Statehood that was based on the greatness of a Heritance, geographically as one component, can still sustain this Identity, if "Turkishness" is not the central question, but Equality.

...after Erdogan, what will be will be, and in that panic, Modern thinking people will surely remember the Principals made by a Humanity diverse. it is not hard, in that sense to choose, but to those who see their Solidarity as one Nation one State, in this stagnation, their lives will change despairing, sadly.

...wot? there is a Kurdistan; and all the Kurds are forced to leave (friendly) from Turkey...
...but that would be in Erdogan's fifth term, i'm guessing.

While Turkey may be threatened by Kurdish gains in Syria, there's little it can do to prevent an autonomous Syrian Kurdistan

Turkey's support for the uprising against Syria's president, Bashar al-Assad, has been challenged during the last week or so as Kurds in the north-east of Syria have taken control of several towns and cities.

The ploy, if it succeeds, will bring a further extension of Kurdish automony in the Middle East, complementing Iraq's booming Kurdistan region, where 5 million Kurds govern themselves as a federal entity within Iraq and with minimal interference from the central government in Baghdad.

The problem from Turkey's perspective is two-fold: firstly, a Syrian Kurdistan alongside Iraqi Kurdistan will encourage Turkey's own restive Kurdish population to demand greater political and human rights, as well as embolden their demands for autonomy from the rest of Turkey.

We now have the chance to turn all schools into religious schools, says AKP deputy
ISTANBUL
August/24/2012

The ruling party now has the chance to transform all schools in Turkey into imam hatip religious schools thanks to recent educational reforms, Justice and Development Party (AKP) Deputy Ali Boğa said, private broadcaster NTV reported.

Boğa was attending the homecoming celebrations of Muğla İmam Highschool when he stated that Turkey was "now past the times when it was forbidden to read the Quran."

"We are here as imam hatip graduates, or as allies," Boğa said. "We will increase the number of these schools in records. We have the chance to turn all schools into imam hatip [schools]."

"We have that chance now that the Quran and religious classes were added to schools’ curriculum," Boğa said.
