Makes sense for the President, after all he was responsible for the destruction of 98 containers of high explosives that would have been otherwise used in war.

The so-called Nobel Peace prize long ago made a parody of itself and was certainly a laughing stock by the time they gave it to Obama..

This latest pathetic effort on behalf of the Norwegian political elite. who want to be in the EU despite the wishes of their populace, must surely be the final nail in the coffin of this out-dated and discredited organization.

Not only are they wildly wrong to claim that the EU has kept peace in Europe(NATO/US troops/Nuclear weapons have done that...) but the decision flies in the face of Democracy – remind me which organization ignored French, Dutch and Irish referendums in order to force more federalism down the throats of Europe’s people ?

Remind us all, once again, which discredited group is behind the prolonging of the world economic crisis because they cannot bear to admit that their ‘project’ has failed and are artificially propping up the Euro whilst impoverishing millions in the process ?

There is something very evil and very wrong going on in World politics and unless the people take a stand, they are going to, as Jefferson once said, ‘wake up as slaves in the continent their forefathers conquered’……

Can#'t add anything to that!

From here.

Congratulations to the EU. I propose that Pres. Christofias pick up the award on behalf of the EU Presidency...

Together, through painstaking trials and tribulations, they raised the profile of the EU, to come to the attention of the Nobel Committee - who have seen their work and judged it to be good for a stable, peaceful Europe.

Bravo! :D

@ Demonax, hi, eh? respectfully, you're funny!

@ my dear OP, well done!

...it seems that the Nobel committee is proactive in their choices. indeed, Obama may save us from the elite which Eisenhower warned us exists.

...Greece most admirably demonstrates the power of Democracy, on it's knees at the moment (has it fallen into the hands of a Dictator, or Junta?). we hope that the Citizens, it electors, get what they want, as the choices will evolve from the free expression of many interlopers. Cyprus for its part demonstrate a Tolerance which if others were to emulate, there would be far less violence in the geographic region. it remains like Israel a stalwart for the Principals that all Mankind admires.

...Nation is like Religion, one chooses to represent this Identity, to become as a Person united in the pleasure of its Identity, but there are Universal truths, and as Individuals, we defend them without distinction and/or discrimination within a State. and what is wrong with defining Bicommunal toward this end. more courage is needed, and new thinking is needed, ridicule this Prize at your peril, i say where is the Greek Constituency if there is to be a Republic?

in my opinion, the Occupy Movement, made an excellent candidate, and would have been a very good choice.
