Together, through painstaking trials and tribulations, they raised the profile of the EU, to come to the attention of the Nobel Committee - who have seen their work and judged it to be good for a stable, peaceful Europe.

Bravo! :D

I hate to point out that the only time Greece is mentioned in the article is: -

Greece has struggled with austerity cuts imposed in the debt crisis

And Cyprus isn't mentioned at all!

What a bizarre fantasy world you live in...

grump

you were remiss in not pointing out some of the Greek Publics' views on this award

Some Greeks weary of years of austerity and crisis were certainly unhappy on hearing the news. "Is this a joke?" asked Chrisoula Panagiotidi, 36, a beautician who lost her job three days ago.

"It's the last thing I would expect. It mocks us and what we are going through right now. All it will do is infuriate people here."

What is it you are smiling at? That the poor woman lost her job?

The smile is because in my opinion it is quite clear to me that your post is further evidence you have lost the plot1

Perhaps you can remind me of what this "plot", to which you adhere, is supposed to be about?

in my personal view you are completely irrational when it comes to Greece, and in particular (but not limited too) the invention of plots to destroy Greece.

Oh no!

This isn't like one of those daft "the Greeks invented the world-wide-web" kind of threads.

I know what the idiom to 'lose the plot' means, and I didn't ask you what you thought my "plot" was (which has been lost, apparently).

- I asked you what "plot" you adhered to because, since it opposes mine, you are out for the division and degradation of nations.
