The last thing we want is for Cyprus to become attractive to drug addicts. Those are not exactly the kind of tourists we need... if we are so desperate for money then we might as well legalize cocaine to attract high class tourists ... we don't need the pot smoking hippies ;)

Hippies?... Hello! This is almost year 2013 my friend! Everyone does pot around here, rich or poor.
A way of life I might say. Cyprus need all kinds of tourists, revenue is revenue, including the backpacked ones.
Given the Cypriot financial mess, every Euro counts.

Cyprus is NOT a drug dealer and does NOT need to prostitute itself taxing mind-altering, life-destroying drugs. They need to be banned and removed from our streets. Kids need to be educated on the dangers of succumbing to these toxic chemicals.

Anyone who needs stimulants to have a good time just wasn’t meant to be having a good time!

Stimulants... including what? Viagra, porn magazines, cigarettes, boose, coffee, beer?
I guess you never used any of the above then, have you GR? Unless you consider going to church every Sunday "a good time".

Old school thinking...
Most young upcoming professionals do pot after a hard day's work... definitely not lazy people.

Your opinion... respected, but not necessarily shared with most others, I'm afraid.

You can grow tobacco at home...

This can't be legal, is it?

Oh isn't it...?

I guess farmers are allowed to grow tobacco but I doubt you can do it in your back yard for a simple reason... tax evasion.

I actually agree with Sotos. Holland has banned tourist related sales for this very reason. Having said that, a mature country should be able to deal with legal entheogens, after all they were one of the cornerstones of the Eleusinian Mysteries. As I said, I am against their use for merely recreation. Even spiritually, I have come to view them as a bit of a short-cut. Dedicated meditation can achieve the same results.

What business are you talking about?
I am in the renewable energy business and don't smoke marijuana.

But I am not blind. There are benefits in legalizing pot. Casinos too!
Encouraging Qatar and Chinese business too! The list is endless.

In general, Cyprus is sterilizing itself from every business opportunity. Why?
