STUD is dogmatically following the divisive protocols developed by the British before leaving. Things have changed in these post-colonial days and such comments are extremely offensive. Instead of giving up on this ancient dogma, he trolls the internet for rubbish to support himself.

There is no reason why history or genetics has to be changed or challenged in order to prove that TCs can have a right to live on Cyprus. The RoC has never disputed TCs right to live as normal, equal citizens in Cyprus. Cyprus is a modern European country which treats its citizens equally. All that the TCs have to do is stop behaving like "owners" and rulers of the island and we can stop reminding them we Greeks have been here longer, have equal rights and steadfastly developed the country into this modern democratic republic of the EU.

Oh dear Phoenix what lovely sentiments. Where were you before 1974 to remind the RoC that we all have equal rights. I for one would have voted you for President. :D

Did we (Greeks) have "equal rights" before 1974? I don't think so! I seem to recall something in that Constitution the Brits gave us that said TCs had MORE rights.

So glad that piece of colonialism is dead amid the new RoC-EU details.

but the whole point is that if your ancestry is the same as the genetics tend to suggest then the ancestors of the Greek Speaking Cypriots cannot have been here longer than the ancestors of the Turkish speaking Cypriots: this is against the back - ground that The Hellenisation of Cyprus was probably following a conquest event or two ( possibly reflected in eg the destruction of ancient Engkomi and the later Ptolemaic invasion) that was just as nasty and brutal as say the Ottoman invasion of 1570/71.

What genetics suggest that? You have not supplied anything credible when asked - repeatedly.

There is no research which has been done that has undermined the history of our island. In fact Delta's research supports historical events such as pinpointing various families which survived the slaughter from the Ottoman invasion; a chance finding of a heritable syndrome. That re-enforces that TCs, who do in fact self-identify culturally with the Ottoman Turks, are recent arrivals. The rest of your claims are further proof that you stick dogmatically to whatever supports Turkey's politics to keep a hold on the island.

(In further fact; even Turkey would not deny that Cyprus is a Greek island as they tried to do a deal to swap their hold on Cyprus for another of the Greek Aegean islands. It is only you and some other colonialists who are stuck with the lie that TCs have been on Cyprus for as long as Greeks.)

Only racist fascists would (mis)use genetics as means to further their political aims. This is what Hitler did.

If supporttheunderdog wants to play with his assumptions about genetics he can do it much easier for his own country. Why for example most people in Britain call themselves "English", from the Germanic tribe of Angles? Does this make those who self-identify as English foreigners to Britain or are they maybe brainwashed? What about the Protestants in North Ireland? Are the native Irish? Are they foreigners?
