...where else can i include such a ridiculous effort; does this mean that Erdogan's position is so weak that he has no chance to win at elections unless he cheats?

Yes it does. He made a mistake in the Istanbul elections by asking for the vote to be re-run. This was despite the fact that the ballots were used to elect council members and he accepted those counts. Anyway the locals knew exactly what he was upto. In the second vote he was going to dump a lot of votes and put his own poxes with AKP candidate votes. The people realised what was going to happen and had people near every box at all times from the voting hall to the counting hall. That blocked him from switching votes and Imamoglu won the second time too. The issue is this is not possible in the more rural areas, without the eyes of the world watching he is liable to lock up all the local observes and do what he please. He has gone far beyond any other democratic system. He and only he can decide if the election is valid and he can supersede what the election committee say not that they would dare oppose him.

So ultimately this falls in the hands of Swinelands all over. They tolerate him and he does what ever he pleases. He has killed thousands of innocent Kurdish civilians and declared them all as terrorists even 6 month old babies. I seem to remember 6 moth old babies being killed were also tolerated elsewhere but my mind cannot focus exactly where it was but I do remember it is very relevant to Cyprus. Of course Turkey has form on this. Back in the 60s leftists were murdered and their meat ended up in canned foods too. Ol boy Menderes survived a plane crash but hanged for his human rights crimes.

We can only live in hope that this asshole receives the same justice for his crimes.

This song comes to mind.

...do not despair Lordo.

Like the "silent man" in Turkey not so long ago, we witness in China today the power of an empty sheet of paper.

...i have hope for Erdogan, because a small change in his intentions will mean fame for him (instead of infamy), and the adulation of all the world; ending the Problem in Cyprus and in Turkey, as well as Ukraine.

Indeed, he fights for "Turkishness" his dogma among dogmatists; but he is a man of God and as such he may have an epiphany in that he may better understand how one God (measured as a State and Nationhood) is served lovingly.

...call me a dreamer, but a BBF, having an identity as an Individual (what is Freedom), and having an identity as a Person (what is Liberty), is not so hard to understand; it is an issue of balance.

He may fight for Turkey instead, the People, not "his" people (the mythic Nation of Turan), but for all of us ''Turkish" or not; for our Basic Human Rights, more broadly for the respect and trust we have for each other beyond that.

..."preparing for War is the greatest road to Peace", so it is said; we'll see. (maybe at this point people will accept a solution as i've suggested)

Women no longer free to travel alone in Turkey; so says the new Fatwa,

https://globalvoices.org/2023/01/05/tur ... vel-alone/

...not a problem i suppose to Erdogan's electorate who live outside of cities in rural settings.

(of course women who travel alone will continue to travel in fear)

Far from it RW, Erdogan is fighting for Muslimness and desire the Ottoman times with him as the king.

They have now murdered an ex-Grey Wolf leader in daylight in cold blood in the centre of Ankara and they used a drug gang to do it. The killer visited the house of a prominent MHP MP after the killing, which actually for a while blocked the police from arresting him. In the meantime no word from anybody in government about the situation. They are trying to cover it up. Erdogan has lost the Grey Wolves, his time is up.

As far as I am aware this is a declaration of the "Diyanet" not law. It would have to pass though parliament for it to be enforced. Of course it does give an excuse to the religious nuts to attack women without fear of prosecution.

The Turkish government strongly denied using chemical weapons against the PKK and Ms Fincanci was accused of spreading terrorist propaganda and insulting Turkey.

She was convicted to two years and eight months in jail on Wednesday after just three hearings, and without - her lawyers say - due process. However, people are rarely imprisoned in Turkey for jail sentences under three years.

''... but under Turkish law is eligible for release.

She is expected to be freed Wednesday - more than two months after her arrest.''

...the Medical association of which she is a member vows to fight on.
