Propose and discuss specific solutions to aspects of the Cyprus Problem

The ultimate goal was to bring peace to a turbulent island which it did, for the last 32 years everyone has lived without the fear of being shot or disappearing at night or having their homes burnt down.

Great logic: Kill everybody at once, so nobody will have to die in the future!

I wonder if you would also support a similar "peace operation" if it was directed against TCs that would ethnically cleanse TCs from Cyprus. In that way we would again have your kind of peace, don't you agree?

Piratis at the end of the day, if everything went by what the GC's wanted. TC's would be secondclasscitizens in Cyprus. No benefits what so ever. And why? why should TC's be treated as second class in their own land. When the TC's protested; GC's started a war - or as you would like to put it: Ethnic Cleansing. It was then that the Turkish Military came. Many TC souls were unjustly killed including many women and children. If thousands of GC's had to be killed and displaced to stop any further animal like behaviour than so be it! They had to dye for a better cause. And that was to keep TC's alive and well on their own land.

Ozan, everything that you said above is a lie.

The question is: Have you been brainwashed to believe those things, or are you knowingly lying trying to give excuses to the crimes and illegalities committed by Turkey?

How old are you?

No Piratis, everything i said befor was not a lie. Thats the TRUTH.

The question here is when you will come to terms with the FACT that You've been brainwashed.

You ultimately think everything you say is the truth - Yet not once have you aknowledged that TC's have been unjustly killed - Now thats brainwash!

You've herd and experienced and so have I. My age is none of your concern, i dont know how old you are! And even if i did - that wont stop you from writing lies on this forum.

RichardB wrote:So So again I ask why take 40% of the Island Why take more than what is viable for you to use .

In 1974, Government of Greece, one of 3 Guarantors to the safe keeping of the Cypriot Constitution, (granted, under military rule, the Junta of 7 years) decided to take 100% of Cyprus with the help of the Greek Cypriot Nationalist. So, you can ask the same question, why did Greece wanted 100% of Cyprus, against the will of the Cypriot citizens. ???

One can argue, since Greece broke it's obligations to protect the Cypriot Constitution and decided to take 100% of Cyprus, Turkey could also, break it's own obligation to protect the Cypriot Constitution, and they did.
In essence, Greece failed to gain 100% of Cyprus, where as, Turkey gained 40% ( 37% actually), which was their objective %, had they acted first, before Greece, by not protecting the Cypriot Constitution.

At the end of the day, Greece walked away with nothing and Turkey stayed with the 37% of Cypriot land, and the Cypriot Constitution was no longer worth anything more than the paper it was written on.

I would also like to know, whether you would be questioning Greece today, had they managed to gain 100% of Cyprus back in 1974. I suppose, by some miracle, after the civilian Greek Government was restored at much later date and the "Junta" was no longer in power, Cyprus would have returned back to it's glory days of the 1960, and the Cypriot Constitution once again, would have been the "fabric" that would have kept the Cypriots living together. Of course, many would say, had Greece managed to gain 100% of Cyprus back in 1974, 100% of Cyprus would still be in the hands of Greece today. Perhaps, we should not be too surprised, that 37% of Cyprus is still in the hands of Turkey today.!!

Please point to me even one lie that I said.

You said that not once I acknowledged that TC's have been unjustly killed. Of course I have. MANY TIMES. Some 100s of TCs have been unjustly killed between 1963-1974.

Now, will you acknowledge that during the same period about an equal number of GCs had been also unjustly killed by TC extremists? Will you acknowledge that with the Turkish invasion 6000 GCs have been unjustly killed, and 200.000 unjustly ethnically cleansed? Will you acknowledge that 10s of thousands of GCs had been butchered by the Turks during their rule of Cyprus? Will you acknowledge that the Turkish occupation is unjust and illegal?

Or you would rather pretend to be the Virgin Mary, while in fact you have been the aggressors during the 99% of our history something that you continue as we speak and all you care is to find some cheap excuses to continue with yet more crimes and illegalities against us?

So Kikapu, if somebody brakes the law and gives you a punch, then I have the right to also brake the law and start beating you up, chopping your legs and arms off? Great logic!

The coup was made by the Greek Junta which was not legitimate even in Greece. They tried to murder the president of Cyprus, who escaped and went to London declaring the coup as illegal demanding legality to return to Cyprus. Meanwhile Greek Cypriots were fighting against the coupists who had the support only of a small minority of extremists.

Turkey had plans for the partition of Cyprus since before the 50s. They even had maps showing the island divided.

The coup was just an EXCUSE and nothing more. Anybody that believes otherwise is voluntarily blind.

I'll point out 1 lie for you Piratis - when i wrote that Turkish Cypriots have been unjustly killed your reply was that everything i said was a lie. That in its self is a lie! and you just proved it in your previous post by stating TC's have been unjustly killed.

And of course i acknowledged that many thousands of GC's have been unjustly killed. GC's and TC's have lost many loved ones, we agree that it was all Unjust. Out of respect lets refrain from mentioning the murders any more. Piratis I'm sorry for some of my remarks when it came to talking about these deaths - they were offensive and uncalled for. If both GC's and TC's have lost many souls, we need not bring them up on the score chart of this debate/discussion/argument what ever it may be.

Now, what is it exactly we are going to talk about? The Ottoman Rule of Cyprus? Do you expect me to defend my ancestors? They were doing what allot of empires were doing in there time and that was conquering or be conquered. And God forbid they done allot of harm, which i believe was excessive in most parts. Saying all this, were other Empires any different? Up to today has human kind changed much? I believe not.

Would you rather talk about the happenings of Cyprus from the 60's or even the 50's as you mentioned to Kipapu. Well, I don't believe we're going to come to a conclusion - However lets see what we can gain from our discussions good or bad.

A very well balanced post Ozan , many of our Cypriot people were killed by the extremists and it is inexcusable and utterly revolting . Let us hope that our future generations do not have to endure such misery and pain.
