The literate and highly educated city liberalsare increasingly secular and non religious and this should only continue in the future over the coming decades.

Agreed. They are the force behind the revolution, especially those of the younger generation.

35 years ago Iran went through an Islamic revolution that turned its society into an Islamic state. less then 2 generations later the Iranians are electing leaders tht are encouraged to negotiate with the West, in order to lift embargoes, and allow them to become a modern industrialized state, even negotiating with the "Great Satan" the USA is seen in the future..

Iran is already a lot more civilized than the US that’s for sure!

You won’t find Iran attacking 3rd world defenseless countries and murdering men, women and children by the thousands.

You won’t find Iran pitting one country against another and causing entire regional upheavals that lead to major humanitarian disasters for personal gain.

You won’t find Iran lying, cheating and spying on everyone and in every way so as to secure this ugly and disgraceful position of incessant war crimes!

A civilized country is a RESPONSIBLE country that is ACCOUNTABLE of its actions. It is a HUMANE country that RESPECTS other countries and always ABIDES by international law. It PROMOTES peace, security and goodwill wherever it goes and is an example for others to follow.

Unfortunately, America is anything but a civilized country…

in International politics where interests are at stake, a nation will do whatever it can get away with..and that is usually in proportion to its power..You're right the Americans will rape, kill, murder, invade any country that gets in the way of its self interest. In contrast a medium power country will complain about justice and morals and all that other crap, but since Iran can get away with funding Hezbollah to control Lebanon and threaten Israel it will also do that not to mention Iran's record against its Kurd minority "gassing Kurds during the Iran/Iraq war" for instance... If Cyprus develops a lazer that can detect anything coming its way and zap it, not only will Turkey suffer but knowing Cypriots the effects of that lazer might be felt in China...in theory

There is no guarantee that a revolution will bring progress; often they lead to dictatorship. On the other hand, revolutions can lead to progress.

I have known many Iranians living abroad who are disgusted and dismayed by what has happened to their country.
