A quickie for those still interested on the subject of attitude to animals.
An interesting article appeared in Newsweek 26/11/14 regarding the culinary habits of the civilized Swiss, one of which, Mrs Loosli (see page 15 of this thread) descends into Cyprus in order to do battle with the bird catchers here, while in her own country her compatriots feast on domestic dogs and cats!!!

Her country Switzerland eats cats and dogs and she's got a problem with Cypriots eating birds?
Wow...

Well I'll be damned !!

A secret well kept, who would have thought such ....culinary delights would be on the menu in a nation such as Switzerland !!

It makes not the slightest difference to my views on illegal bird trapping in Cyprus, but I'm truly shocked that what is freely available in some third world countries is also available in Switzerland of all countries,

" Eleven countries around the globe still eat dog meat. They are: China, Indonesia, Korea, Mexico, Philippines, Polynesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, the Arctic and Antarctic and two cantons in Switzerland. "

Interesting news from Subaltern - even if thoroughly unexpected and totally disgusting behaviour - yet again - by the pseudo-civlised nation of Swiss pore-brained people! No more Lindt pressies for Xmas!

Nevertheless, nobody here supports illegal bird trapping BUT there are a number of anti-Cypriot myths branded about. From my own observations and inquiries; such a habit is no longer practiced in normal circles and is not supported by even the most stuck-in-the past peasants of Paphos. Even when it was practiced, it never posed the dangers to extinction we are told exist.

Yet - we have endless foreigners who know NOTHING about Cyprus jumping on some Hellbound Scatology Gibbons type of anti-Cyprus lies and propaganda so that they turn the world's eyes away from their OWN country's behaviour in seriously driving many animals and plants to extinction!

Leave Cyprus alone! Frigging foreign defamers!

As ever actual factual reality means nothing to you GiG, all that matters to you is your need to deny and distort factual reality as and when doing so suits your propaganda needs. Birdlife Cyprus, a credible and respected organisation, set up by Cypriots and run by Cypriots, that has done and continues to do scientifically credible surveys for decades now, refutes your claims. Of course that means nothing to someone like you and your propaganda needs.
