Also, my nephew is now studying for his Masters at LSE (the London School Of Economics)

after his first degree was gladly accepted from EMU.

Never completely trust and believe all that is written and that you hear Get Real as it's usually done to keep the Greek Cypriots from barking and wagging their tail.....with never any real bite!

Your thread made a sweeping statement and I corrected it.

Flying Horse,

You do have a point! At what cost. Let's just agree that as the TRNC is not fully recognised internationally by the UN as a Country/State, any investments, work, project can be undertaken with absolutely No Regulation at all - not from the EU or any other authority. But....and there is a huge but, the EU and WHO are now deeply concerned about this scenario and have started extending recognition to certain "internal" area of interest from within the TRNC. That is how Taiwan started out from China and look how influential it is even if is not fully, internationally, recognised due to Chinese objections!

Yes, I like your word game, where did you get the 'fully' from? It is not recognised fall stop apart from its invader occupier, why wouldn't they recognise their victim.

Talk about media spin, but then again you are a journalist! Or at least claim to be.

Add the following: Northern Cyprus declared its independence in 1983. It is currently recognised by one UN member, Turkey. The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the Economic Cooperation Organization have granted Northern Cyprus observer status under the name "Turkish Cypriot State". United Nations Security Council Resolution 541 defines the declaration of independence of Northern Cyprus as legally invalid.[39]

Tell me how many UN Resolutions tried to stop Russia from going into South Ortensia, President Bush from invading Iraq and the U.S from going into Vietnam. I have placed the UN RES 541 in the above text deliberately so as you can understand and realise that UN Resolutions are exactly what they are - ONLY ADVICE!

It's worse than that... it is actually condemned.

UN Security Council Resolution 541 (1983)
http://kypros.org/UN/scr541.htm

Here are 10 things that have a better chance of coming to pass than the “TRNC” getting recognized:

1. Jesus Christ returns.
2. Aliens from outer space invade and occupy Earth.
3. Malta militarily defeats the US, Russia, and China.
4. Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar join the EU.
5. Britain, the US, and France join the OIC.
6. All CF members simultaneously win Lotto.
7. APOEL defeats Barcelona at Camp Nou by 10-0.
8. All Muslims covert to Christianity while Christians convert to Islam.
9. The Pope announces he’s gay, likes midgets, and converts to Buddhism.
10. DT survives for a week without his smartphone.
