Cyprus needed a Mandela

Postby Paphitis » Sun Dec 08, 2013 12:53 pm

Very easy for those of the PC brigade to post their feelings admiration, respect and sadness at the big man's passing.

Unfortunately, those words mean nothing if you do not adhere to his message of love, forgiveness, which empowered him to unite a biterly divided nation.

He proves, that it is possible to achieve great things and if that is possible in RSA, then it is possible in Cyprus.

We need a CYPRIOT Nation, which unites all the island's sons and daughters.

Unfortunately, we have not grasped or understand all that he stood for, or understod the man who proved to have such a big heart by behaving in a manner that is different to the vast majority of lesser individuals.

Another message to my fellow Cypriots!

To the rest, keep posting your meaningless condolences!

I agree.

The biggest problem is to make the Turkish Settlers feel Cypriot as most Turkish Cypriots do.

With this regard, I have a question: why is there no Turkish language channel on CyBC?

Are you suggesting we need someone to sanction a few bombings....?

I was talking about the TCs, not the illegal settlers.

Most of the settlers will need to go. You can't legalize illegal colonization of an occupied territory. Basic Geneva Convention Article!

Have no issue with Kibrilisi Language services on CYBC, inluding a dedicated Kibrilisi Channel.

Paphitis, there are some who would prefer a Mugabe, or even an Idi Amin. I myself have thought along those lines at some point, but I am trying to be realistic. Yes, the settlement is a war crime, there were plenty of crimes committed by South African forces as well. How are you going to make the settlers leave? Some of them have been there 40 years and have grandchildren. No one would be happier than me if they left. But how is this going to come about? If you have a workable idea then I am all for it.

With regards to a dedicated Kibrilisi Channel, we must push for it, because no one else is going to.

I refuse to accept anything that is contrary to RoC Government policy. I think the Government acknowledged the fact that it is not possible for all the settlers to be made to leave. We can't accept 300,000 illegals, but obviously there will be some humanitarian grounds.

Or, the US and EU can provide inducements to resettle them.

Although I have the utmost respect for the man, I think the subsequent period that followed Mandela was not successful, just look at the segregation and crime rates in the country. South Africa the country; where you can buy a cheap Chinese handgun for less than $50.

As for the number of settlers, they are grossly overstated in my opinion.

you had two mandelas, greek style.

as to the settlers, if you are saying that a person who arrived in cyprus 40 years ago and now has grand children in cyprus has to leave because he or she is a settler then the game is over there is only one solution.

The final one.
