Souchoukos

I am not sure if "souchoukos" is the correct way to spell it in English. I am talking about the sweet that is long cylindrical made with grape juice and has nuts in the middle. My mother gave me some yesterday. I was wondering if this thing is only made in Cyprus. The name sounds more middle eastern than Greek.

Hi, They do also make them in UK....mum and dad buy them from harringay in london from a little greek bakery there. I dont know where else you can get them but i know you can get them in UK.
Souzoukko is a favorite at Cyprus festivals and fairs and is made by dipping strings of nuts in heated grape juice until the confection solidifies.

Maybe it made elsewhere but it is a traditional Cyprus product.

I believe the government should register the name like they did with Halloumi.

I think I saw something similar in Russia but had never tried.
In Cyprus I have tried it just recently.
I mean it looks a bit strange, its shape I mean  . But recently I was offered to try, and I liked it. I was eating and eating it and couldn't stop :D

Hey, I should be an expert on this, because my uncle actually manufactures the stuff in a place near Larnaca. I'm not a big fan personally, but I'm sure they'r good for you! :P

Are the made always in the traditional way or there are "modern" and easy ways to make them now?
