Not a very good evening for most of our Greek brothers in the mainland...

Guingamp vs. PAOK 2-0
Estoril vs. Panathinaikos 2-0
Asteras vs. Partizan 2-0 :D

Well done Asteras! :D

Asteras 4
Besiktas 2
Tottenham 2
Partizan 1

Hmm strange how the Australian press give so much coverage to APOEL and yet no one in Europe has heard of the Western Sloppy Wallabies.

Mate,

Australia is a true Mecca of Sport along with the U.S. there is so much sport every weekend.

I don't think they are that keen on reporting Apoel so much as Barcelona.

When there is so much to report locally on top of that, there really is a lot of competition.

You guys have absolutely no idea how sports crazy Australia really is. Come to Melbourne and see for yourselves. The place is a mad house!

It's one of only 2 countries in the world that has the infrastructure to host a World Cup without the need to build a single stadium because the facilities are the best in the world literally.

Just to put things into context of how crazy they are in Australia about Sport; the Australian Soccer Federation spent $54 million on their World Cup bid.

Now where did that money come from? It came from the A League, clubs, sponsorships and Murdoch.

They only got 1 vote but we all know why. It was revealed that QATAR had paid $6 million in bribes.

Well now the ASF las launched legal action against FIFA. Frank Lowy is asking that FIFA pay all losses back to the ASF.

The Australian Soccer Team usually played it's games at the MCG in front of 100,000 spectators. It's like 2 times the Maracana in Brazil. Even friendlies are in front of 100,000 fans.

When they played Greece in 2006, it was at the MCG in front of 99,000 fans.

They had 99,000 fans because the Australians finally got someone to take the trip that was of some significance. The Greeks were the European Champions. (Albeit the Champs did treat the the trip as a jolly and didn't take the game too seriously) but it was still a big deal for Australia to host the Euro Champs...........thus the large crowd.

Btw....the headline of the Ozzie site says "APOEL 1 Ajax 1: Manduca rescues point for hosts". It doesn't talk of Ajax or Barcelona, it talks about how Manduca rescued the point for APOEL.
