Many thanks - I didn't even think about checking youtube.

I've just tried it out with files in "My Documents" rather than on desktop and it was really easy. Only problem is that I get a message when I try to open the zipped folder saying I have 40 days free trial and then I have to buy WinRar. Hmm. Weird. I've had this laptop a few years now.

It appears to be no longer free, it must of contacted the WinRar server and updated itself. I just tried another program, this ones free. :D

That's great, Yialousa, to have one in the background to use in case. But, I should be able to get this work done and sent in the next few days before my 40 day free trial winrar expires, and then I can't see me needing to do this sort of thing again - at least until I need a new laptop. :)

Thanks everyone; feel happy - must crack on! :)

Windows has built-in Zipping so you don’t need any 3rd party utilities.

Simply highlight the file names and R-click on them, and one of the options offered should be “Add to a compressed archive” or something like that.

Btw, we’ve been through all this before… I gave you step by step instructions in the past so why do we have to repeat things? :?

It’s obvious that you need to do this from time to time so you should PAY ATTENTION and MASTER it!

It’s piss easy anyway! I hope you never ask us again.

That's what I've done after watching that youtube - but it still creates an .rar zip file and the 40 day free trial notification still comes up.

You've helped me with a lot of PC stuff, :D (thank you) - but I don't recall this one being requested before. It would be good to have definitive proof that my memory is failing but the search facility can't manage 'zip'. :P

Because some idiot like Yialoser, must’ve convinced you in the past to download and install that WinRAR crap but you shouldn’t listen to amateurs.

Go into control panel > add/remove programs > and remove that stupid thing so that the built-in Windows version regains control of all zipping/unzipping.

I can't believe you would take advice from YiaLoser to be honest.

The less third party stuff you have on your computer the better so use the inbuilt utilities that have come with your laptop.
