Help with ZIP, please.

Postby GreekIslandGirl » Fri Sep 26, 2014 7:44 pm

I've been asked to zip some (long-ish) files together to send to someone and I know I did this once a looong time ago with a previous PC.

But I don't seem to have anything on this laptop that would enable me to do this and no one around that can help me, so ......

Do I have to buy a program; or download one?

If so, which and how?

And then, is it straightforward ?

Thank you. :D

Hi, thanks for that. It doesn't say what the maximum size of your documents can be for this to work effectively. It suggests using a dedicated program if they are large, but it doesn't say what is large. Do you happen to know?

Normally after ZIPping you need a file under 20 megabytes, more than that will probably be rejected.

That's great. I should be OK with that. Thanks :)

Many thanks - I didn't even think about checking youtube.

I've just tried it out with files in "My Documents" rather than on desktop and it was really easy. Only problem is that I get a message when I try to open the zipped folder saying I have 40 days free trial and then I have to buy WinRar. Hmm. Weird. I've had this laptop a few years now.
