So Britain and the US has spent 3 years arming all these different factions to topple Assad and having failed they’ll now go bomb… not Assad, but the failed factions! :?

Pure genius! 8)

It must be some kind of reverse asymmetric warfare!

That is where you are getting ahead of yourself frankly.

The US has not armed any Syrian Militants to topple Assad.

We all got on relatively ok with Assad and probably would prefer him to the ISIL alternative which will possess chemical weapons.

Legally we are not even allowed to arm the Peshmerga. That is why the as were sourced from an Eastern Block country such as Iran or Albania. Congress and the Australian Parliament would not allow American or Australian Arms in the hands of rebels. Remember Iran/Contra?

 Idiot, are you trying to reinvent history?

In June 2012, the Central Intelligence Agency was reported to be involved in covert operations along the Turkish-Syrian border, where agents investigated rebel groups, recommending arms providers which groups to give aid to. Agents also helped opposition forces develop supply routes, and provided them with communications training.[75] CIA operatives distributed assault rifles, anti-tank rocket launchers and other ammunition to Syrian opposition. The State Department has reportedly allocated $15 million for civilian opposition groups in Syria.[10]

In July 2012, the United States government granted a non-governmental organization called Syrian Support Group a license to fund the Free Syrian Army...

I'm sure you can read the entire section yourself… although I wouldn't be surprised if you don't understand it!

Oh yes I am sure Wikipedia would know exactly what the CIA was up to.

Did it also report that you're an idiot?

Do you understand that the supply of Western Arms to rebels is prohibited. Australian PM had to re-assure parliament that Australia was not supplying the Peshmerga with Australian Arms which is why they got Russian made weapons. Do you think we don't have enough arms to supply them with? We do but it can't be done and the same applies to the US.

The CIA can say a lot of things, but what can be legally achieved with the consent of Congress is another matter completely.

There are a lot of rules in regard to this and supplying Al Nusra because they oppose Assad is something that can't be done.

Look, you have been living in the "Center of the Universe" for far too long but reality dictates that the supply of Arms from countries like the US and Australia is heavily regulated and controlled and for good reason. We will not provide arms which will be used by rebels to terrorize Syrian or Iraqi civilians. It can't be done.

There are many nuances which can bring down an entire US or Australian Government if it was proven that militant groups in Syria or Iraq were supplied covertly with our weapons so much so that even a simple airdrop of arms to the Peshmerga was only done after consulting the best lawyers and consultants in the country and still the PM was forced to provide assurances to the Australian Parliament and People. If he lied, then God help him.

We can't even sell the RoC any weapons let alone Islamic Militants.
